Description

South Lodge East dates back to 1847 and was designed by well-known architect, S. S. Teulon. The lodge has been restored and once again stands as sentinel, along with South Lodge West (ref:1940), to Holkham Hall on the Holkham Estate. This stylishly designed couple’s retreat offers a fabulous contrasting mix of traditional interiors with contemporary pops of colour. There’s a cosy living room for romantic evenings, with a wood burning stove to keep toes and paws warm after winter walks. The enclosed garden is the ideal spot for alfresco dining in the warmer months after long walks on the beach or cycling around the lake, with bike hire available on the Estate. This is a unique chance to stay on the Holkham Estate, so make it your love nest on the coast and explore the plentiful attractions nearby. Shop/Pub: 3 miles

Reviews

South Lodge East is a characterful property pleasantly decorated with a well equipped kitchen (although no freezer box in fridge.) Bedroom is a good size with a comfy bed and compact en suite (lovely shower!). The lodge has lovely rural views and we spotted lots of birds of Prey. Perhaps should be noted that it is a fair distance from the Hall and other attractions if walking.

Mr B,

The shower was good, and the bed clean and comfortable. The location of the cottage on the Holkham estate was wonderful. Deer were a constant visitor. Excellent little side garden for the dog. We really enjoyed our stay.

Mrs I,

A delightful cottage and location.

Mr A,

An unusual rental property in a fabulous location and a great base for exploring the North Norfolk coastline.

Mr T,

Very clean and comfortable cottage. Wi-fi erratic.

Mrs H,

This was our 3rd visit to this property and we find the property ideal for a short stay and very handily located for the many attractive places along this beautiful coastline.

Mr H,

Very small clean comfortable and nicely decorated. It was as expected. Coat hangers would be useful as there are no wardrobes or space for any.

Mr A,

Lovely location and cottage,

Mrs S,

Mostly a nice lodge apart from the things mentioned above. It's not one we will visit again. We much prefer Palmers Lodge and Cuckoo Lodge and will book those again. South Lodge just too busy with traffic for our liking.

Mrs H,

We had a fantastic stay at the South Lodge East! The lodge is beautifully presented and has everything you might need. We would definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a getaway in the countryside!

Miss L,

What a lovely place to stay , it had everything we needed , and was in a wonderful location , where we could walk our dog for miles around the estate.

Mrs B,

A cosy cottage for two in a delightful location. There is however no wardrobe or hanging rail in the bedroom for any clothes. There were merely hooks on the wall. There was no ice box in the fridge.

Mrs S,

The cottage is just lovely. Quaint and modern at the same time. Having a Log Burner was great. Sheets and towels all excellent. The cottage was spotless. The walks from the front door were gorgeous. And I could walk or drive all the way down to Holkham Hall, park and walk round the lake and see the Deer Park. The birds and surrounding park, just glorious.

Ms B,

Small but exquisitely formed. Cottage ideally situated for woodland and beach walks, very helpful car park exemptions.

Mrs H,

Lovely cottage. Well equipped for a short stay. Perfect

Mr F,

Lovely lodge, clean and tidy. Excellent location, free car park passes was a bonus All staff on Holkham estate were lovely. We will be back

Miss R,

We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this property. We loved everything about the property, the location, the beautiful grounds and hall. Our spaniel loved the walks round the grounds and the beach.

Mrs J,

Outside furniture was in a poor state. Need another arm chair in the lounge . TV aerial needed adjusting as some channels did not work

Previous Customer,

Location excellent. We really enjoyed the access to the hall and the grounds and the accommodation was comfortable and very clean.

Miss O,

Had a lovely stay, just a few maintenance issues which were quickly resolved.
