Notes:    This is a non-smoking property. Mobile reception – poor. The Triumphal Arch is not suitable for infants or young children.   Please note the bedroom is up a 33 step steep, narrow stone spiral staircase, which may not be suitable for older guests or the less mobile. There is another holiday let next door, within the same building. Whilst we do our very best to deter and remove them before your stay, the Triumphal Arch, like many old properties, occasionally has an issue with cluster flies. There are estate vehicles & bikes that do use the archway for access to areas of the Estate. Please see upcoming Estate Events here.

The Holkham Estate is in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and home to Holkham Hall, which sits proudly at the centre of the Estate with far-reaching views over the 25,000-acres of historic parkland and woodland. One of the region’s finest and most recognisable Palladian country houses and the ancestral home of the Coke family for more than 400 years. The grounds are ideal for cycling and feature many themed walks and trails, with bike hire available close to the courtyard, restaurant and gift shop. You can even take to the water on the lake during the warmer months of the year. Just outside the walls of Holkham Park is Lady Anne’s Drive which leads down to the wide-sweeping sands and big skies of the dog friendly beach, bordered by pine woods. You will also find yourself spoilt for choice when looking to eat out. The Victoria Inn in the Holkham village serves fantastic local, seasonal cuisine from dawn to dusk, whilst lunch can also be enjoyed at the Hall’s Courtyard Cafe or the Beach Cafe slightly further afield in Wells-next-the-Sea. Wells-next-the-Sea is a charming coastal town with its iconic beach huts and picturesque harbour where you can enjoy fresh shellfish or the catch of the day. Other delights nearby are Burnham Market and its sister villages, Brancaster, Cley-next-the-Sea and the town of Holt to name just a few.

Quirky, stunning and totally unique. Will not work for everyone given 33 step spiral staircase but we loved it

A really very impressive building to take in as to come up the drive. Set in beautiful parkland with a fantastic view down to a column and the sea beyond. But the properties main function was to be an entrance arch, so the accommodation was of secondary importance when it was first built. So some aspects are a compromise. Low door heights, very sRead moreteep, very narrow 32 step, stone spiral stairs. If you have a dog you will probably need to carry them both up and down these steps. The drive through the Arch is a public road, so expect normal road traffic, cyclists and dog walkers to be coming through on a regular basis, which is a bit of a let down if you were expecting privacy. The staff when called upon were superb, special thanks to Gavin for sorting out an issue Hide

A wonderful property with lots of character, very private, rural and quiet but with good access to Holkham and Wells. Lovely walks around the estate, the beach and the towns/villages. We loved our stay even though the stairs were quite a challenge and we are pretty fit people in our 50s. Will most likely be coming back as holkham hall and its grounds were simply stunning. P.s no signs of any ghosts.

We stayed at the Triumphal Arch many years ago, and we returned for a special anniversary. The property is unique, quirky, tranquil, romantic, and one of a kind. The location is fabulous with views across Holkham Estate to the sea in the distance and fantastic walks on your doorstep.

A stunning setting which feels really special. The spiral staircase is a significant climb up/down and so not for those with impaired mobility. The main room itself is very beautiful.

Significantly overpriced and rendered barely habitable by the biblical fly infestation which should not be understated. Even in December the property was constantly covered in dead flies on all surfaces even in the bath and shower, this was a major issue for us in an otherwise quirky place to stay.
