Notes:    This is a non-smoking property. Mobile reception – poor. The Triumphal Arch is not suitable for infants or young children.   Please note the bedroom is up a 33 step steep, narrow stone spiral staircase, which may not be suitable for older guests or the less mobile. There is another holiday let next door, within the same building. Whilst we do our very best to deter and remove them before your stay, the Triumphal Arch, like many old properties, occasionally has an issue with cluster flies. There are estate vehicles & bikes that do use the archway for access to areas of the Estate. Please see upcoming Estate Events here.

The Holkham Estate is in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and home to Holkham Hall, which sits proudly at the centre of the Estate with far-reaching views over the 25,000-acres of historic parkland and woodland. One of the region’s finest and most recognisable Palladian country houses and the ancestral home of the Coke family for more than 400 years. The grounds are ideal for cycling and feature many themed walks and trails, with bike hire available close to the courtyard, restaurant and gift shop. You can even take to the water on the lake during the warmer months of the year. Just outside the walls of Holkham Park is Lady Anne’s Drive which leads down to the wide-sweeping sands and big skies of the dog friendly beach, bordered by pine woods. You will also find yourself spoilt for choice when looking to eat out. The Victoria Inn in the Holkham village serves fantastic local, seasonal cuisine from dawn to dusk, whilst lunch can also be enjoyed at the Hall’s Courtyard Cafe or the Beach Cafe slightly further afield in Wells-next-the-Sea. Wells-next-the-Sea is a charming coastal town with its iconic beach huts and picturesque harbour where you can enjoy fresh shellfish or the catch of the day. Other delights nearby are Burnham Market and its sister villages, Brancaster, Cley-next-the-Sea and the town of Holt to name just a few.

This is a romantic and quirky holiday accommodation with a lovely main sitting room and bedroom area. It is located just outside the gates to the Holkham estate and is surrounded by fields of sheep. However, it is unsuitable for anyone with limited mobility, as the main room is 34 steps up a very narrow stone spiral staircase from the kitchen/dinRead moreing area. Bring small luggage for the same reason. Hide

Quirky and intriguing accommodation, with very comfortable bed and living area upstairs. Lovely view and well positioned on the Holkham Estate grounds for walks.

The Arch is in a wonderful position - we weren't at all bothered by traffic as others have been. We were though disappointed in the general state of the kitchen and toilets. They could all do with decorating/cleaning. We had a problem with the shower door (which a cleaner should have noticed) and couldn't use it our first day. Since dogs are welcoRead moreme, we would have expected doors on the kitchen units .......... We were also most disappointed that the 10% discount was NOT available despite being advertised on the website and for which we thought was included when we booked. So all in all not what we expected having paid 1064 for three nights. Response from holidaycottages.co.uk: Thank you for your review. We can confirm that we will discuss this with the owner Hide

House keeping was poor in places, in particular oven, it was dirty from previous occupants, we had to clean shelfs/sides before we could use it, we felt this reslly was no acceptable and were disappointed. Response from holidaycottages.co.uk: Thank you for your review. We have spoken to the owner and the issue has now been resolved.

A really very impressive building to take in as to come up the drive. Set in beautiful parkland with a fantastic view down to a column and the sea beyond. But the properties main function was to be an entrance arch, so the accommodation was of secondary importance when it was first built. So some aspects are a compromise. Low door heights, very sRead moreteep, very narrow 32 step, stone spiral stairs. If you have a dog you will probably need to carry them both up and down these steps. The drive through the Arch is a public road, so expect normal road traffic, cyclists and dog walkers to be coming through on a regular basis, which is a bit of a let down if you were expecting privacy. The staff when called upon were superb, special thanks to Gavin for sorting out an issue Hide
