Cottages in Hope Cove

The area of Hope Cove in South Devon is an idyllic small village just a few miles from Salcombe – another lovely place to stay, so discover our Salcombe cottages too. With one of the region’s most beautiful beaches, our cottages near Hope Cove put you at the heart of one of Devon’s most spectacular locations. Some of our most stylish properties are located in the Hope area and are just a stone’s throw from the beach. We also have a range of dog-friendly holiday cottages to choose from.

Things to Do in Hope Cove

Hope itself is made up of Outer Hope and Inner Hope. Inner Hope is virtually unchanged from its heyday as a small fishing village and retains much of its original architecture, which includes a multitude of thatched roofs and stone cottages. Pretty is an understatement for this part of Hope and guests can expect to be charmed by this idyll.

Hope’s biggest attraction is, naturally, the beach. Once the site of many a smuggler’s trading, Hope Cove is made up of two beaches, Mouthwell Sands and Harbour Beach, better known for their aquatic activities than pirate ships. Sea kayaking and stand up paddleboarding are two of the most fun activities in Hope Cove, but the sea here is also very popular with divers, as there is said to be 30 shipwrecks beneath Hope Cove’s waves.

Hope Cove is also somewhat of a culinary destination, with a great array of food and drink options. The village pub, The Hope and Anchor, has been at the heart of local life for years and is known across Devon for its eclectic, modern menu and relaxed dining atmosphere. They have a great range of fresh, local seafood dishes, as does The Lobster Pod. Don’t worry if you have vegetarians in tow, however, as both restaurants offer a range of plant-based options.
