Hitting the high street can be a great way to unwind on holiday and treat yourself. Whether it’s picking up little souvenirs and mementos, or you’re looking to make a larger purchase, Cornwall has a fantastic range of shops from independent boutiques to thriving high streets.

We have collected this list of the top places to shop in Cornwall so you know where to head for a bit of retail therapy on your Cornish escape.

Truro shopping

As the capital of Cornwall, Truro has plenty of shops. The city’s largest indoor market is Truro Pannier Market, which has stalls selling everything from fresh fruit and vegetables to antiques and accessories. Lemon Street Market is another noteworthy indoor shopping venue in Truro and has lots of independent shops, including Music Nostalgia, and Harry's Toy Chest, which sells lots of children’s gifts, making it a perfect stop on a family holiday.

Falmouth shopping

Falmouth: Falmouth’s High Street, on Arwenack Street, is exploding with a balance of shops and cafes. Falmouth Booksellers is staffed by experts who are always on hand to make handy recommendations. Bow Fashion Accessories sells beautiful jewellery and accessories that are perfect for a holiday treat. Falmouth is also home to some of the UK’s favourite beachy chain shops, including Fat Face, Sea Salt and Fat Willy's Surf Shack.

Padstow shopping

Padstow has a wealth of independent businesses for you to mooch around and enjoy at leisure. For an edible treat, check out the Chough Bakery, a family-run business that has been making Padstow’s finest Cornish pasties for over 30 years. Paws in Padstow is a must if you have a furry friend accompanying you on holiday, as this dog-themed shop has everything for your favourite pet. Specialising in the best designer gear for dogs, Paws in Padstow is the place to get your dog a holiday souvenir of their own. Padstow Angling Shop stocks all your fishing needs and there are also many art galleries about the place for you to pick up an artsy piece of Cornwall.

Fowey shopping

Fowey, on the South East coast, has all your outdoor needs catered for. Here you’ll find high street favourites such as Mountain Warehouse, Fat Face and Joules, where you can find all the right beach and active gear you might need on holiday. Among these chains, there are also many local shops spread about. Pebble and Salt is a little souvenir shop specialising in local artisanal crafts, so be sure to visit if you want a memento of Fowey that is a little bit different. Other local favourites include Treasures of Fowey and Readymoney Beach Shop, both great places to find a Fowey keepsake.

Newquay shopping

As one of Cornwall’s most popular seaside resorts, Newquay has more than its fair share of independent shops designed to satisfy visitors. The Newquay Farmers Market, on the last Sunday of every month at the Killacourt, is worth a visit if you manage to catch it as it sees hundreds of local traders open their stalls – a great way to support locals! The Killacourt is also home to a range of independent shops and cafes, including Melo Homeware, and Nearly New(quay) clothing, a sustainable fashion store.

St Ives shopping

This arty town is the place to be for galleries. The Blue Bramble Gallery has a lovely range of sculptures, decorative artwork and paintings that make lovely gifts. St Ives Gallery sells original paintings and prints of St Ives, as well as cute cards that make a sweet keepsake. There are also plenty of cafes, gift shops and pasty shops for you to discover in eclectic St Ives.
