Cottages in Torquay

Torquay is a classic English seaside resort, which retains much of its original Victorian charm. As part of the Torbay area, Torquay lands on the English Riviera stretch of South Devon, so-called by Victorian guests, who likened its warm climate and natural landscape to that of France. We have a large selection of Torquay holiday cottages for you to browse through, which are available to rent all year round. Our portfolio of Torquay holiday cottages includes a range of dog-friendly properties, which welcome anywhere between one and three pets. Some of our cottages in Torquay also come with the added luxury of a hot tub, so you can cosy up whilst taking in some spectacular scenery.

Many of our holiday homes in the area put you right in the centre of Torquay, which has plenty to explore. Torquay Harbour is the town’s main attraction. With over 1,00 berths, you can take a stroll along the quayside and take in views of the many yachts moored here. Glamorous by nature, you’ll also find plenty of boutique shops nearby on The Strand, as well as high street shopping slightly further inland at Fleet Walk. The local marina is also a great place for al fresco dining, with plenty of seafront restaurants. A local favourite is Below Decks, which specialises in local seafood dishes, including their signature ‘Moules ‘n’ Frites’.

Just north of Torquay lies Babbacombe, a favourite holiday spot of Queen Victoria and where we have a small selection of cottages. Babbacombe is the definition of picture-perfect and you can experience it in miniature too, by visiting the model village. Enjoy a Devon cream tea in one of many delectable cafes, take the cliff railway down to the beach and explore the beautiful Babbacombe Downs. Babbacombe beach is dog-friendly all year round and is also a great spot for scuba diving, sailing and angling.

Our Torquay cottages are spread across this area of coastline and another of our locations is the lovely Anstey’s Cove. Situated between Torquay and Babbacombe, the cove is on the South West Coast Path and has routes towards Torquay, Babbacombe and Oddicombe Beach, with plenty of wildlife and interesting coastline to look at along the way. On the beach itself, you can rent out deckchairs for the day and sit back and relax as you take in the views of the amazing limestone cliffs around you.

The beachside fun doesn’t stop there during a visit to Torquay. Nearby Torre Abbey Sands is known for its Victorian Splendour and is home to many cafes, bars and seafront eateries, as well as being a favourite spot for swimming. The beach welcomes dogs, but only between October and May. Corbyn Sands is also close and is lined with colourful beach huts, making it a very Instagrammable spot, as well as being a great place for a beach stroll. Dogs are not permitted between May and October.

We hope you can see just how special a holiday in Torquay can be. To get more of a feel for the area and learn more about this fantastic part of Devon, check out our South Devon Holiday Cottages and browse through our Devon Travel Guide.
