Cottages in St Merryn

It's no wonder that St Merryn has the motto “Seven bays for seven days” displayed on the road signs as you arrive in the village.

You really can go to a different beach every day of the week at St Merryn. The beaches described as the Seven Bays are Porthcothan Bay, Treyarnon, Constantine Bay, Booby’s Bay, Mother Ivey’s Bay, Harlyn and finally Trevone Bay. They vary in distance from St Merryn from 1 mile to a maximum of 3.5 miles away, and are all sited around the dramatic and very beautiful Trevose Head, a headland jutting out into Atlantic.

All the Seven Bays are linked by a footpath, so what better than to combine a trip to each beach with a cliff top walk to the next one. Four of these beaches welcome dogs all year round so every member of the family can come with you.

For those that don’t fancy taking to the water, the walking here is fabulous. In clear weather, from Trevose Head, you can see virtually the entire length of the north Cornish coast. The South West Coast Path runs around Trevose Head and is within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the views of the Atlantic coastline are simply stunning.

A different beach every day can be followed by a different food experience every evening as St Merryn is full to the brim with eating establishments - cafes, restaurants, delis, pubs and tea rooms. The Cornish Arms pub is owned by the famous chef Rick Stein so you don’t need to travel to Padstow to sample his renowned cuisine although at only a 10-minute drive away, a trip to Padstow surely must be on the cards.

We have a range of beautiful properties both within St Merryn and around the Seven Bays area, ranging from modern contemporary houses to quaint old Cornish cottages, some with simply glorious views of the Atlantic coastline.
