But it's not all about seaside fun and walks amongst the heather; Whitby is also the birthplace of Count Dracula. His creator, Bram Stoker, visited in the latter part of the 19th century and is said to have taken much of the inspiration for his book from the town itself, in particular St Mary's Church and the abbey. Now, hundreds flock here with costumes at the ready for the two annual Goth Festivals which is an experience like no other!
