For a holiday of coastal views, fresh sea air and the sound of the waves, stay at this studio-style property in Sandsend, a picturesque fishing village. Compact yet luxurious, this retreat is perfect for solo travellers or couples seeking a cosy seaside base. It’s in an enviable spot opposite Sandsend Beach (50 metres), a beautiful stretch of golden sand ideal for morning strolls and sunset wandering. Sandsend itself is known for its excellent food scene, with a great selection of cafés, pubs and restaurants within 150 metres of your door. The surrounding North Yorkshire coastline is brimming with opportunity: follow the sands or the Cleveland Way coastal path to reach Whitby (2 miles) and poke around its historic abbey, winding old streets and bustling harbour. Other must-visit spots nearby include the sweeping bay at Runswick Bay (4.5 miles) and the characterful cottages and smugglers’ history of Robin Hood’s Bay (8 miles).

You’ll access the property via a flight of historic stone steps leading up to your private terrace. The front door opens into a bright, open-plan space ideal for relaxing, designed much like a boutique hotel suite. Floor-to-ceiling windows and a vaulted ceiling flood the room with natural light. To one side sits a chic built-in kitchenette where you can prepare simple meals after a day out exploring. The sleeping area has a comfortable double bed with clever built-in storage and a Smart TV for relaxed evenings in. Dining is convenient at the drop-leaf breakfast table with stools, and there are two swivel armchairs for sitting with a morning coffee or evening drink. Completing the interior is a stylish shower room with a heated shower rail and WC.

Outside, the decked terrace provides a peaceful spot to unwind, flanked with honey-coloured stone for a quintessentially Yorkshire feel. There’s a bistro table and chairs for enjoying breakfast in the fresh coastal air or relaxing after a day exploring the dramatic North Yorkshire coast. This new/recently refurbished accommodation impressed from the outset - in short : eveything important works and its well equipped, it had been thoroughly cleaned etc, its well designed and freshly decorated. The high ceiling is a +ve. Comfy bed. Cute veranda seating area. We had an excellent 3 night/weekend stay, thoroughly enjoyed ourselves anRead mored would happily return. We think Sandsend and its proximity to Whitby are the No1 attraction. Together with being v close to the beach. Sandsend is a bit of a foodie hotspot - we had a good meal at the Fish cottage (recommend you book) and theres c6 other places to eat/Drink within a short walk. We stay in lots of 1 bedroom holiday accommodation around the country. This was literally a v last minute booking and paying 400 for 3 nights was a fair price given eveything. Our Research was limited and its worth knowing the following (apologies if any covered in the blurb) : 1. This is about the smallest 1 bed property weve stayed in. Its really nice but You have to be v organised/tidy and on balance it wouldnt have worked for us for a longer stay (we are in our late 60s and a bit more space is needed) or in bad weather, but maybe thats just us Hide
