Outside of your splendid accommodation, Hastings and St Leonards-On-Sea are bursting with exciting things to see and do. While Hasting’s history dates back to the infamous Norman invasion of 1066, St Leonards-On-Sea is much younger. As the vision of  property developer James Burton and his architect son, Decimus, St Leonards on Sea started being created in 1862. The influence of the regency era on St Leonards is still visible today and many visitors will notice its grand townhouses and white, detailed halls and municipal buildings have a distinctly Regency-era feel about them - including some of our holiday homes. 

St Leonards continued to be at the forefront of architectural ingenuity and saw the erection of Marine Court, a block of flats designed to look like a ship, in 1936. Today, Marine Court still has residents but it is also now a trendy precinct full of places to eat and drink, including the vegan burger joint Half Man, Half Burger!, and Pizzarellis, who offer takeaway so you can enjoy tasty pizza on the beach. 

Both St Leonards-On-Sea and Hastings Old Town have a distinctly artsy feel, with plenty of vintage shops, independent cafes and galleries lining the streets. Hastings Old Town is also home to Stade Beach, Britain’s oldest fishing fleet and a great spot to sample fresh Sussex seafood. After you lunch, head into the Old Town and pay a visit to the contemporary gallery there and the local fishing museum to really absorb what Hastings is all about. 

All this is without mentioning Hastings’ and St Leonard’s most famous attractions, including its proximity to Battle Abbey and grounds, the cliff railway up East Hill in Hastings, Rock-A-Nore Beach and St Leonards Gardens.
