Recharge at this fabulous, rural country bolthole. Located on a farm within the High Weald National Landscape, the former shepherd’s cottage offers a blissful break for two, with footpaths from the front door and a friendly inn at Brede, just a mile away. Get a further taste for local life at Westfield (2 miles), with all the essential village amenities and an award-winning vineyard. If you like seafood, head to Hastings, home to Europe's largest beach-launched fishing fleet and famous for its castle ruins and cliff railways. Further along the coast, Rye (7.5 miles) is full of medieval charm, with cobbled streets, quaint tearooms, and the stunning Rye Harbour Nature Reserve, where birdwatching and coastal walks are a delight. If gardening is your passion, you’ll find inspiration aplenty at Great Dixter and Bodiam Castle – both are within 7.5 miles of your holiday home.

Amid a landscape of fertile farmland, this repurposed rural abode adds a chic twist to traditional country living. Step inside and enjoy the large windows with enticing glimpses of the fields beyond, while a modern wood burner brings a warm after-dark glow to the open-plan living space. Curl up on the sofa for an evening in front of the Smart TV, cook up a romantic meal for two in the bold-coloured kitchen and enjoy quality time together as you sit at the cottage-style dining suite. A stylish shower room with walk in shower, a pair of basins and an exposed brick wall completes the convenience of the ground floor layout. A wooden staircase repurposed from an old granary, leads from the centre of the living room to a dreamy mezzanine-level king-size bedroom, where a perfectly positioned window frames the far-reaching view.

Outside, multiple seating areas allow you to fully appreciate the countryside ambience. Enjoy dinner alfresco before unwinding in the recliner chairs around the fire pit as the sun goes down. After dark, relocate to the rear of the cottage where a fabulous roll-top bath awaits. Really lovely cottage, high standard of finish inside. Only slight negative would be the bedroom where there is a sloping ceiling & staircase can be a little bit of a challenge during night if you need to loo! Having said this we would definitely return, and run the gauntlet with the wonderful sheep in the field :)

Lovely cottage in a restful, secluded location. Really tastefully designed interior that felt both luxurious and homely. We especially loved the outdoor bath, log burner and looking out at the green fields and gulls through the horizontal window in the bedroom. Easy to get out to Hastings and Rye, Tillingham, and the countryside. Hosts were also grRead moreeat, and really responsive when we had a small issue. Hide

We had a fabulous stay in this wonderful property. The views from all windows were gorgeous and you really did feel very secluded. The location was perfect for us, as we were keen to explore Hastings (a 15 minute drive) and Rye (a 20 minute drive). Having a peaceful base to return to after a day out was just what we were after. The outdoor bath waRead mores an amazing experience, especially on cold January days! The property was nice and cosy thanks to the underfloor heating, and there was plenty of hot water. We found the bed to be very comfortable and slept very well throughout our stay. If travelling with a toddler, as we were, I'd recommend grippy socks or slippers for the hard floors and taking a stair gate as the stairs are steep with open balustrades. The owners contacted us to check we had arrived ok and were very responsive when we did have a question, which was appreciated We would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking for peace and privacy and / or those looking to explore the Hastings, Rye and other local areas.
