Cottages in West Bay

West Bay Beach is one of West Dorset’s most famous, with its dramatic white cliffs being instantly recognisable to many as having been featured on numerous TV shows and Films. West Bay is also home to a lovely harbour, which some of our self-catering accommodation has a superb view of. All of our holiday cottages in the West Bay area are looked after to the highest standard and are close to the coast and local amenities, such as shops and pubs, of which West Bay has many. For those seeking an extra-special holiday, check out our luxury properties in West Bay and Bridport.

Another great feature of many of our West Bay homes is that they are pet-friendly. West Bay Beach, on both the east and west sides of the harbour, is dog-friendly between April and October, although pets are not allowed on the beach during the other months of the year. There is, however, a third beach in West Bay which is separated from the others where dogs are allowed all year round. All of these restrictions and routes onto the beaches are clearly signposted in nearby Bridport, where we have a range of holiday cottages, and West Bay.

West Bay Beach has a reputation for being clean and safe, but Eype beach is less well known and equally beautiful. Just a half-hour walk from West Bay Beach along the South West Coast path, Eype beach is serene in its seclusion. The path to the beach takes you through Dorset’s green countryside and down onto the shingle shores. The beach is dog-friendly all year round, although bathing is not always advised and there is a steep drop in the shingle, so Eype may be a better match for older families and couples who enjoy a hearty walk.

Aside from being a hit with families year upon year for its spacious sandy shores, West Bay Beach is also a great place to try something new. You can book a guided trip from Bridport to West Bay with West Bay Canoes, a unique and exciting way to see this stretch of the Dorset countryside. Thrill seekers may want to check out Lime Bay Charters, a speed boat tours company that offers up to an hour of crashing through the waves of West Bay - definitely one for those with strong sea legs!

If you fancy a night off from self-catering, head into West Bay, where you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to food. The Station Cafe is a particular favourite of our local team in Dorset and as a converted World War One train carriage, it’s certainly a unique place to dine. Other foodie hits in West Bay include Seagulls restaurant and Rise Cafe Bar.

Sublime sunsets, warm waters and colourful countryside all await you in West Bay, so don’t delay and start planning your holiday here today.
