Treat your special someone to a country break at this sweet shepherd’s hut sitting in a complex of holiday homes in the outskirts of the village of Bramfield - just 3 miles from the market town of Halesworth. Sleeping two people, it’s ideal for couples who are in search of a quirky rural retreat to call home while they explore the Suffolk coast together. Keep an eye out for the hut’s namesake at RSPB Minsmere (8 miles), where you might spot kingfishers darting through the reedbeds. In Southwold (10 miles), head out along the pier to try your luck on the home-made arcade machines at the Under the Pier Show. Further afield, hire a rowing boat to drift between the islands of Thorpeness Meare (15 miles). Keep watch for the unique House in the Clouds, a water tower topped with a house that seems to float above the treetops.
Climb a few steps up to your pink shepherd’s hut and step inside to find a cleverly-designed, compact space with everything you need for a relaxing country escape. At one end, a double bed invites lazy mornings, while the kitchenette makes it easy to whip up breakfast or a simple meal. For bigger feasts, you can use the onsite shared outdoor kitchen. Two indoor lockable shower rooms with WC's sit 100 metres away above the cart lodge, and you’ll find a composting toilet is near the hut.
Outside you’ll find your own private lawn area, where bench seating and the fire pit make a lovely spot to linger long after dark, and a BBQ stands ready for al fresco suppers. Head to the communal seating area at the centre of the site to soak up the peaceful rural surroundings. In the morning, make the most of the shared tennis court. Private parking is available for two cars.
