Property code: OC-L46357

This three-bedroom woodland cabin stands deep within Killykeen Forest Park on the shores of Lough Oughter in County Cavan, surrounded by a network of interconnected lakes and mature forest. Made for families and groups of friends seeking an active outdoor break, the development provides on-site access to fishing, kayaking, cycling, and forest walks. From the private jetty, boats and kayaks launch onto Lough Oughter, where the uninhabited Inch Island and the ruins of Clogh Oughter Castle can be explored by water. Forest trails wind through the park, with routes ranging from gentle woodland walks to a scenic 30-mile cycling loop through Belturbet, Miltown, and Killeshandra. The ruins of Drumlane Monastery overlook Lough Derrybrick, adding further historic interest to the area. The park itself is a designated Special Protection Area and Special Area of Conservation, home to red squirrels, pine martens, otters, nine bat species, and over 47 recorded bird species.

Arranged as a split-level cabin, the sitting room and kitchen/diner are set on separate levels, creating distinct spaces for relaxing and dining. The sitting room is a warm, sociable space centred around a wood burner, with low-level lighting and a well-stocked selection of books and games all contributing to a restful atmosphere. A Smart TV is also available in this room for quieter moments. Moving through to the kitchen/diner on the other level, the dining area has a table for mealtimes alongside a well-equipped kitchen ready for self-catering. The cabin has three bedrooms in total: two double rooms, each furnished with a double bed, and a third room set up as a bunk room with bunk beds. All three bedrooms are served by a single shower room with a shower and WC. From the sitting room, doors open onto the private balcony with views out through the tree canopy.

The cabin's private terrace includes a BBQ for al fresco dining, with an enclosed garden providing additional outdoor space. Across the development, facilities shared with other guests include bicycle and kayak hire, hot tubs, a sauna, a Japanese bath, a spa with therapist-led treatments, a licensed bar, an on-site shop, and a covered outdoor seating area with a fire pit. Parking is available in the on-site car park.
