Property code: OC-L46356

This detached log cabin sits deep within the woodland of Killykeen Forest Park, on the shores of Lough Oughter in County Cavan, Ireland's lake district. Couples and small families drawn to the outdoors will find a full range of activities accessible on-site, from water sports and nature walks to forest bathing and cycling. Walking trails and cycling routes wind through the woods, while from the jetty on the lake, boat trips lead out to the uninhabited Inch Island and the historic Clogh Oughter Castle. Fishing, kayaking, and paddleboarding are all on offer along the surrounding waterways. The surrounding woodland and lakeshore form part of a designated Special Protection Area, home to red squirrels, otters, pine martens, and over 47 recorded bird species. The ruins of Drumlane Monastery overlook Lough Derrybrick, and a scenic 30-mile cycling loop runs through the towns of Belturbet, Miltown, and Killeshandra.

The open-plan living area pairs a comfortable sitting space with a fitted kitchen, centred around a wood burner that fills the room with warmth and atmosphere. The fire acts as a natural focal point, creating a sociable spot for the whole group. A Smart TV and a well-stocked collection of books, treats, and games provide entertainment for restful evenings indoors. At one end of the space, the kitchen is well-equipped for preparing meals while staying connected to the rest of the room. Beyond the living area, two king-size bedrooms are set apart from the main living space, each with atmospheric lighting that carries through the cabin's warm, considered feel. Both rooms are spacious and well-proportioned, offering a genuine sense of quiet and privacy from the social heart of the cabin. A separate shower room serves both bedrooms, equipped with a shower and WC, completing the cabin's practical and thoughtfully arranged interior.

The cabin has its own private terrace and a covered outdoor seating area, both set among the trees. A BBQ is provided for al fresco dining. The wider development offers a range of leisure facilities shared with other guests, including bicycle hire, hot tubs, a sauna, a Japanese bath, spa treatments, boat hire, paddleboarding, kayaking, and fishing. A licensed bar and a shop are also available on-site. On-site parking is provided.
