This shepherd's hut stands alongside another hut on a holiday park in the heart of rural Cornwall. It's made for solo travellers or couples who want either an unhurried break or an active, outdoor-based escape. Both north and south coasts are approximately 10 miles away, offering the chance to hike rugged cliff paths, explore hidden coves, spend time on golden beaches or catch a break on some surfing waves. Inland, there are quiet lanes and bridleways to explore on foot, by bike or on horseback. Stithians Lake Activities Centre is just 2 miles away, where water sports enthusiasts will have a ball, while the maritime town of Falmouth is just 9.5 miles away, offering beaches, boutique shops and plenty of seafood restaurants. The harbour streets of St Ives, 17 miles away, offer similar delights and are home to the iconic Tate St Ives art gallery. Mown pathways thread through the surrounding fields, where the dark skies at night make for exceptional stargazing.
Inside, the hut opens as one characterful space, arranged so that everything sits within a few steps. A comfortable double bed sits at the sleeping end, with the bed made up before you arrive and linen, duvets and towels provided. A domestic starter pack is left ready, so the first evening asks nothing more than unpacking. Along one side, the kitchenette runs into a breakfast bar with seating for two, a spot for morning coffee or a slow breakfast. The kitchenette includes a microwave, single induction ring, fridge, kettle and toaster. A TV and Starlink Wi-Fi are available, while a door leads through to the private shower room, fitted with a shower and WC. The hut is cosy rather than spacious, and its single-room footprint is what makes it feel like a retreat for two.
The hut stands within the grounds of a small rural development, with mown pathways leading out through wild fields where guests are free to wander. Buzzards and rabbits are a common sight, and the fields support a thriving mix of wildlife. Facilities shared with other guests on the development include a children's play area and a wildflower area. Parking is available on site.
