Comprising two handsome stone properties set in the glorious Cumbrian countryside, this accommodation is the ultimate retreat for large groups of family and friends. It lies just outside Nenthead, famed for being England’s highest village and once a thriving hub of lead and silver mining. You can explore this fascinating history by visiting Nenthead Mines. Just 5 miles away is Alston, where you can take a ride on the South Tynedale Railway. The natural phenomenon that is Ashgill Force, a 55’ high waterfall, is 5 miles from the door, and the market town of Penrith lies 24 miles distant. You might also like to visit Corbridge (23.5 miles), once the most northerly town in the Roman Empire, to see the Corbridge Hoard, a Roman time capsule that was buried in the 2nd century AD. Pooley Bridge (29 miles) is home to the iconic Ullswater steamers, if you fancy a memorable trip on the water.

This first of the duo of properties is an exquisite, beautifully presented farmhouse. Offering a blend of modern amenities and charming features such as exposed stone walls and wooden beams, it boasts lovely rural views from many of the windows. The first space you’ll encounter is the boot room, from where you head through to the spacious lounge. This room features a grand, eye-catching stone fireplace housing a wood burner, cosy furnishings and a large wall-mounted Smart TV.  Next up are the fabulous dining room and kitchen, sociable spaces designed for practicality and relaxation. The ground floor is also home to a king-size bedroom (with a zip-and-link bed) and an en-suite shower room, plus a separate WC. Heading upstairs, using one of the two staircases, you’ll find four welcoming bedrooms: one super-king-size zip-and-link and a king-size that both boast en-suite shower rooms, a king-size zip-and-link, and a bunk room that younger guests will love. A chic shower completes the layout. Next door is an enchanting cottage. Contemporary yet characterful, it features an open-plan lounge/diner. The central focus of the lounge is once again a captivating stone fireplace with a wood burner, and you’ve also got comfy seating, a Smart TV, and a charming farmhouse-style dining table. From here, there is easy access to the thoughtfully designed kitchen, and the ground floor also has a shower room. Two bedrooms await upstairs: a king-size and a super-king-size that can be made up as twins on request.

Outside, the properties have their own gardens, both of which are perfect for lazy sunny afternoons and al fresco dining. A hot tub sits in a garden room outside the farmhouse, the views from which are breathtaking. Private parking is available for up to six cars.
