Cottages near Holkham Beach

Flanked by pine forests and sand dunes the fine golden expanse that is Holkham Beach has been a favourite with visitors for generations. Forming part of the Holkham Estate and co-managed with Natural England, it is home to rare flora and fauna as well as visiting birdlife. This precious and vast area is the pride of Norfolk and welcomes all sorts of visitors from walkers and dogs to horses and bathers.

The mile after mile of stretching beach makes any beach goer feel liberated with a sense of neverending space and, even in the height of summer, you’d be hard pressed to describe this beach as crowded. Any lazy sunbather will easily find their area of solitude.

The four miles of wide sands stretch from Wells-next-the-Sea in the East to Burnham Overy Staithe in the West. A long and most reviving walk from end to end, with outstanding views can be perfectly finished with a pint of local ale or something to eat at any one of the good pubs. No matter which end you choose to start or finish, it can be categorically said that there is nowhere better from which you can best see and experience the dramatic grandeur of Norfolk’s vast skies. The sheer magnitude of emptiness is breathtaking.

Wells-next-the-Sea and the surrounding villages to Holkham are pocketed with quaint flint cottages and large converted barns, the whole area is quite simply, very pretty. Many of our cottages are scattered along this delightful stretch of coast and we would love to help you find the perfect one.
