Cottages in Bridport

Bridport in West Dorset is a vibrant seaside town that exhibits Dorset’s dramatic coastline in all its glory. The iconic white cliffs of West Bay Beach, where you can find our West Bay holiday cottages, are just down the road and are truly spectacular when seen in person! Located between Lyme Regis (have a browse of our Lyme Regis cottages) and Weymouth (see Weymouth cottages) on the Jurassic Coast, Bridport is a breathtaking holiday destination with a  lovely selection of holiday cottages to match. Self-catering holiday lets are ideal for exploring Bridport and the surrounding area and we have something to suit all holidaymakers. Our local accommodation varies in size from cosy apartments for four, to large property conversions suitable for up to eight guests. For ultimate comfort and refinement, and to make your time in Bridport extra special, be sure to look at our luxury holiday homes.

It may also be the case that you want to bring your dog along with you on holiday. The majority of our Bridport holiday cottages are dog-friendly, welcoming one or more pets. There are plenty of beaches just south of Bridport, including Hive Beach and Cogden Beach, which are dog-friendly all year round. Far more remote than West Bay, these shingle and pebbled beaches cover stretches of Chesil Beach equally as beautiful but far more peaceful. Enjoy a truly breathtaking sunset here, or spend the day walking the dogs and enjoy watching them roam free. There is also a lovely little beach cafe at Hive Beach where you can grab a quick coffee, or indulge in some gorgeous local, fresh dishes, including Dorset’s finest seafood.

Speaking of beaches, the coast in Bridport is undoubtedly its biggest attraction. As part of Dorset’s designated National Landscape, Bridport’s seafront offers golden shores, clear waters and awe-inspiring views. After a day of relaxing by the shore, Bridport has plenty of places to unwind with some delicious food and a cold drink. From fish and chips on Bridport harbour to pizza underneath the sunset in nearby Seatown, there is lots to choose from in this part of West Dorset, but Bridport’s most iconic drink has to be beer. More specifically, a beer from Palmer’s Brewery, which has been brewing ale in Bridport since 1794! You can aslo book onto a Palmer’s Brewery tour and learn the remarkable history of this tasty ale.

Other historic attractions in Bridport include Mapperton House, an amazing Jacobean Mansion where the Earl of Sandwich is said to have created and consumed the world’s first sandwich. The house is open to the public, but you must book onto a guided tour ahead of visiting to be allowed inside. West Dorset is also famed for its natural landmarks, one of which is Colmers Hill, a 40-minute walk away. Covered by bluebells in the springtime, this tree-lined hill is the highest point in Dorset and offers panoramic views of this glorious county. Just 6.5 miles inland is Beaminster, a picturesque town full of beautiful gardens, and popular with artists – take a look at our Beaminster cottages if you'd like to stay here.

It’s clear to see why Bridport is an excellent choice for a Dorset coastal break. With easy access to some of the highlights of the Jurassic Coast and plenty to keep you busy, a stay in one of our Bridport holiday cottages is bound to fulfil all your Dorset dreams.
