Holiday lets and self-catering accommodation in Ashbourne

Rustic interiors, colourful gardens and spellbinding views of the Derbyshire Dales await you at our Ashbourne Holiday Cottages. To be found to the south of the Peak District National Park, Ashbourne is one of Derbyshire’s most vibrant market towns. Our cottages in the area are all away from the busy centre of Ashbourne, but still have easy access to all its pubs, shops and restaurants. Our homes are all self-catering and range from smaller boltholes for two to large homes for up to 10 guests at a time. We also accommodate dogs in our pet-friendly homes and many of our Ashbourne cottages are next door to each other, so why not book a couple and invite more people on your Derbyshire break?

Perhaps you’ve got Ashbourne in mind because of its proximity to dreamy Dovedale? Dovedale is the Peak District’s most famous dale and its beautiful landscape had a profound effect on the Romantic poets. Thorpe Cloud is at the epicentre of Dovedale and the 257m peak is a surprisingly gentle walk, with calm terrain, making it a popular walk with all sorts of visitors, including children and dogs. The stepping stones across the River Dove at the foot of Thorpe Cloud are also very famous and for those not wanting to climb, a gentle stroll around the river’s edge is equally picturesque. Thorpe Cloud is just north of Ashbourne and is even closer to Kniveton, a small village where we also have a number of lovely holiday cottages.

Ilam Park is another of the area’s natural beauty spots that you simply have to visit while on your Ashbourne holiday. Ilam Park, parts of Dovedale and the White Peak Estate all belong to the National Trust and are open to visitors throughout the year. There is very limited parking at Ilam Park Car Park, so do plan your trip well in advance. Aside from lots of countryside walking routes, there is a tearoom, second hand book shop and public loos, all situated around the stables.

Ashbourne itself is a very pretty, historic town with plenty to keep you occupied and refreshed. When you’re not in one of its pubs, cafes or restaurants filling your boots, why not take a leisurely stroll around Ashbourne and take in its wonderful array of Tudor and Georgian architecture? There are over 200 listed buildings in Ashbourne, and highlights include the Old Grammar School and St Oswald's Church, which has one of the tallest spires in the country.

After your holiday in Ashbourne is over, why not plan a stay in one of our cottages in the nearby towns of Matlock, Bakewell, Buxton and many more across the Peak District.
