Whitby
Whitby is a popular choice for visitors all year round. It is well known for its long sandy beach and delicious seafood. For a different day out, why not climb the famous 199 steps to reach the ruins of Whitby Abbey. It's said to have been the inspiration for Bram Stokers Count Dracula, and its gothic splendour is the perfect place from which to take in some truly stunning views over the town. Whitby harbour is steeped in history and visitors can see where British explorer Captain James Cook first worked as an apprentice before setting sail and discovering Australia. The harbour is a buzz of activity and you can enjoy early mornings watching the fishing boats come ashore before getting first choice of their catch. There's always something happening throughout the town, and festivals and fairs are held throughout the year including Whitby Goth Festival, Whitby Folk Week and the Whitby Regatta.

This is the second time this year we have used Chapel cottage and it was even better than the first. Excellent location, lovely cottage, clean and comfortable. Parking is a little tight but adequate for our needs. Love staying here and I will be back soon

Fantastic central location. Great the property came with secured parking. The home was lovely, but it did have 2 spiral staircases, which if you have mobility issues then could be a struggle. Definitely would recommend this property.

We had a lovely stay in Whitby. The cottage was spotlessly clean, extremely central and well equipped, and having private parking (our SEAT Leon only just fitted) in such a central location is definitely a major bonus! Definitely not for people with limited mobility, or small children as spiral stairs are steep and long.

Excellent cottage. Comfortable beds, brilliant facilities. Ideally situated for exploring Whitby. Clean and well maintained. Kitchen facilities very good and tea, coffee, milk and biscuits were provided. The living room/dining room was superb. Would definitely come again

The cottage is in a perfect position, but is very noisy from 6.15am in the morning. Just needs a deep clean, but we would still recommend it.

It literally has everything you need it's a large cottage but very warm and it has a large single bedroom on the ground floor with a separate shower and toilet which is great for anyone with mobility issues. First floor is the kitchen and living room witRead moreh a large window which overlooks church street ( great for people watching) the second floor has a double and a single room with separate bathroom shower and toilet. We really enjoyed our stay at Chapel Gate cottage, the house was spotless and had everything we needed. The parking space was appreciated, made unpacking/packing of the car very straight forward which was a huge bonus. Would definitely return in the future. Thank you.
