Closer to home is the stunning medieval town of Rye with cobbled streets and artisan shops.  If you prefer being active, hire a boat at Newenden and paddle down the river Rother then take a well earned lunch at the excellent Bodiam boat station cafe. Head for the coast and you can enjoy some surfing at Camber Sands or beachcombing on Winchelsea Beach. Alternatively just relax, sit on the patio and enjoy the beautiful unspoilt views from your cottage, across the open countryside.
