Description

Cricket Cottage is a glorious, beamed period house set right in the heart of picturesque Robertsbridge. Its name makes reference to the Gray Nicolls factory in Robertsbridge which has been making cricket bats since 1876. The Grade II listed cottage, sleeping 6/7, is the perfect place to enjoy a family holiday.   It has recently been updated to a high standard with comfortable and stylish furnishings, providing accommodation full of character with all the comforts of modern living.  One of the two sitting rooms has a beautiful, working inglenook fireplace, ideal for curling up in front of after a busy day out.  The kitchen has everything you need but if you would like someone else to do the cooking, it is only a short walk to the village with its artisan bakery, cafe and fantastic pubs.   There are lots of rural walks right from your doorstep and it is only a short drive to historic Battle with its famous battlefield and abbey.  There is easy access by road and rail to the seaside town of Hastings, the spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells and there are direct trains to London from the village station. Robertsbridge is a member of the Sussex Bonfire Society which is responsible for a series of bonfire festivals and will definitely help November go off with a spectacular bang!

Reviews

We found Cricket Cottage a comfortable and cosy place to stay. It is thoughtfully furnished and well equipped and we appreciated the Welcome basket. Robertsbridge is a fascinating old established Sussex village and close to many attractions that are in close proximity for visits: Battle Abbey, Great Dixter garden, Bodiam castle etc. The cottage is on a narrow lane but we found parking at the end of Fair Lane spproaching the foot bridge to be best and only a short walk. We hope to come again !!

Mrs W,

The cottage was comfortable and we quickly felt at home. The heating was swift and we had everything we needed.

Mrs S,

We spent a lovely week at Cricket Cottage. It was so comfortable and welcoming and everything you might need ha FB been thought of together with a welcome pack. Lovely place to relax in the house or in the garden as we did as we were blessed with glorious weather. Great location for waking from the doorstep of taking trips out by car or train. Would definitely recommend and would love to return as still plenty to do in the area.

Mrs R,

Awesome host. We had a car break down and were allowed to stay without issue. The place is awesome, as is the local pub which is 5 mins walk, as are supermarket and bakery.

Mr G,

We found a home away from home staying at this cottage. It was our first time as a family traveling internationally and we were very comfortable. My young son even said that when we go back over to the UK, that he wanted to stay at this cottage again. The location, the view, the house was beautiful!

Mrs C,

A very comfortable and spacious cottage with lovely furnishings and interior decor. Everything we needed was provided. Tranquil garden. Excellent location for days out such as Battle, Merriments Gardens, Great Dixter and National Trust's Sissinghurst Castle and Garden. We dined at the George Inn most evenings and the One Stop Shop sold the groceries and essentials we needed. If the opportunity arose we happily return to the Cricket Cottage. B & J, September 2024.

Mrs B,

We loved our stay as two families at the Cricket Cottage. The home was comfortable and unique. It was very well equipped including a washing machine, dryer, dish washer and all kitchen appliances. Very child friendly including a highchair and a kids room with toys. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner Sophie who was very pleasant and welcoming. We enjoyed visiting the beach and sites nearby.

Dr Z,

We really enjoyed our stay at 'Cricket Cottage', it is a comfortable and homely property. The location is excellent and only a short stroll away from some great amenities. A fantastic pub called The George, which served excellent food and a great choice of drinks, the New Spice provided great meal too, the One Stop is open late and the wonderful Judges Bakery for morning coffee and pastries. The property has comfortable beds, nice linen and towels provided. The garden is a great space to spend time and has a lovely view.
