Reviews

We had a really great stay, the cottage is a home from home, very well equipped and very comfortable.

Mr L,

We had a fantastic time and will definitely be back. 100% recommend.

Mr R,

A comfortable place to stay.

Mr L,

The cottage was lovely, we really enjoyed our stay here with family. The views are incredible and the cottage itself is a great size and really nicely furnished. The outdoor space is great for dogs too. We made use of the location which is only a short drive away from Sherwood Forest and a nice local pub. Highly recommend for a relaxing getaway!

Miss D,

Had a lovely stay here with family and our dogs. They loved the freedom and size of the garden and surrounding fields that we were able to use! Lovely comfortable beds, slept amazing. Will defo be back!

Miss A,

Private, well kept, very comfortable, roomy, ideal getaway, with everthing you need home from home.

Mr M,

We had a wonderful stay at Shepard's Cottage. When we arrived there was a little bundle of gifts for us (wine, chocolate, treats for the dog), which we thought was a lovely touch and was really appreciated. The cottage itself is spacious, well decorated and has comfortable furniture. Freshly cut flowers in every room. Enough room and beds for two couples and two kids, if needed. It's generally a lovely place to spend time relaxing. The cottage is detached and the grounds are spacious, so it was nice and cool despite the hot weather because we were able to create a through-breeze with the windows. It backs onto a couple of fields to walk the dog in. Some of the grass was mown, some left to grow wild, and our cockapoo loved bounding around in the long grass. The owner provided a map to walk to a nearby lake, which was a nice touch because we'd never have known it was there otherwise. The hot tub is great - it's heated by a wood burner and stays toasty warm for hours. Logs, fire starters, kindling and instructions were provided and after a bit of troubleshooting we found it easy to use. Be mindful that the owner's dogs sometimes appears around the cottage, which freaked our dog out at first, but they're very calm and friendly so it was not a problem. Owner was communicative and always reachable. Loved pretty much everything about the place.

Mr C,

Lovely relaxing break for my family of 5 to get away into the peace and quiet of the countryside, although local amenities are only a few minutes drive away making it an ideal location. Plenty of local attractions within a half hour radius to walk the dog and keep the kids entertained. The owners were lovely and were keen to ensure we had a nice break. The summer house and BBQ, hot tub area was amazing for evenings with the kids to keep them fed and entertained. Can't recommend enough!

Mr L,

We are a family with 3 kids (7,6,3) and a dog. This cottage was perfect for our 4 night get away. Situated out of the way, so it’s very peaceful but close to local amenities. We made good use of the hot tub, bbq and the dog loved running around the field. We found the place to be very relaxing with great views and a well kept indoor space. The owners were really helpful whenever we had questions or needed anything and provided lots of recommendations for local pubs and walks. We really enjoyed ourselves and can’t wait to come back. I wish I booked for longer!

Mr D,

We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay at The Shepherds Cottage. The cottage is in a peaceful location with fabulous views of the countryside. There are plenty of places to visit nearby too. The cottage is spotlessly clean and has everything you need in a holiday home. The bed in the master bedroom is gigantic and very comfortable. The back garden was secure for our dog. Our teenage children loved the games room and hot tub. The fresh flowers from the garden and a welcome food basket were lovely and very much appreciated. We would definitely stay again if we returned to the area. It is one of the best cottages we have stayed in.

Mrs W,

Had a lovely 3 night stay at the cottage, nice peaceful location and close to lots of places to visit - cottage is dog friendly but not allowed upstairs or in the back snug so if your dog is used to being with you all the time take into consideration.

Mr J,

We absolutely loved our stay at The Shepherds Cottage. The cottage had everything we needed for a home from home stay, but with much better views. Both my partner and I slept so well in the vast main bed and our 7 yr old loved the bunk beds. The owners Anne and Bruce live further down the lane but we only saw them when we reached out to them, we never felt overlooked. We will definitely be back.
