Description

This stone built former shepherds house has been lovingly and tastefully renovated. The superb views across the garden to Cheviot can be enjoyed whilst releaxing on the comfortable sofa and chairs around the fire in the delightful sitting room.  Outside there is a walled and fenced garden and two buildings, one with a deep freeze and ample storage for bicycles should you wish to take advantage of the quiet private roads, the other houses the washing machine and tumble dryer and a large raised sleeping platform for dogs in a separate kennel area. Dogs are allowed downstairs in the house only. The property is fully central heated and carpeted throughout. The cottage has a garage and amble car parking space. College Valley is a private estate, there are four letting houses, an independent hostel and a well equipped Community Hall which is licensed for weddings and other functions. It is possible to book the whole Valley for events. Wooler is host to the Glendale Show, held on Bank Holiday Monday at the end of August. This agricultural show is popular with both locals and holidaymakers; it celebrates many aspects of rural and farming life, and provides a fun day out for all ages. The Heritage coast is just 20 miles. Grouse shooting and stalking by arrangement. If you would like to bring your horse with you, it can be arranged or take a ride from nearby Kimmerston Riding Centre across the sands to Holy Island. Bike Hire available nearby. All the properties let all year and are available to start your holiday on any day of the week, the only specification being a minimum letting of three nights. Due to the remoteness of some of the houses it is occasionally impossible to get safe access in deep snow, in this case a refund will be given or an alternative date offered.

Reviews

Fabulous stay in a lovely snug cottage. Large walled garden was great for the greyhounds and there was plenty of space. The electricity board was doing some work in the valley so all the properties were being run off generators and although there was a noise outside you couldn’t hear it inside the house. It was still the most peaceful place in the world. The view of the hills from the large kitchen window was outstanding and it was great to just sit and watch the hills, the wildlife and the weather. Would definitely come again

Mrs F,

Outstanding property, thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Breath-taking views. The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay in a very remote location, very well equipped.

Mr C,

Wow- what an absolutely amazing place. I can’t rate this highly enough and no amount of photos will ever do it justice. Very secluded. Idilic location and view over the snow capped hills. Lots of wildlife seen from the cottage. The beds are unbelievably comfortable! Kitchen really well stocked with pots/ pans etc for both cooking and baking. Lots of outside space for the dogs to run around securely in and out house where they could dry off and get cleaned before coming back in the house. Lots of logs and coal. (Sorry we used a lot as we just relaxed and made the most of the cottage). So glad I found this cottage. It’s a must.

Mrs M,

Everything was excellent! Property is beautiful, amazing location.

Mrs Elaine B,

We’ve stayed in College Valley nine times now - a delightful remote location. Superb cottages, all beautifully presented and extremely comfortable.

Mrs Elizabeth W,

It was a beautiful little cottage with all we needed there. My only problem was the stairs, I know that it does say on your website may be a problem for someone with difficulty walking but when it only becomes a problem two weeks before your going it’s difficult a hand rail on the stairs is needed. I would also suggest double quilt’s on the single beds.

Mrs Denise K,

Our first time in the valley and definitely not the least - Wow. Perfect. Thank you so much.

Another great week at Coldburn. Excellent food and service at the Milan Italian Restaurant, Wooler and the Border Hotel, Kirk Yetholm. Watched 3 red squirrels at Whitehall and saw an Adder on the Southernknowe/Hethpool Mill walk.

First timers to the valley. What a great holiday. We wanted peace, quiet, remote we got it all! Excellent location - Can't wait to return!

Had a lovely time recharging our batteries and being off the grid. Such a charming & relaxing cottage - perfect for 'Us' time. Enjoyed the experience of chopping wood and collecting coal for the fire. Took us 4 days but we completed the 1000 piece puzzle! What you can achieve without wi-fi!

A truly beautiful stay in the snow dusted valley! Frosted walks to all side of the valley with crisp blue skies making for spectacular views, followed by relaxing coal fire evening. PERFECT!! Thank you
