Cottages in Alnwick

With cottages dotted throughout Northumberland, Alnwick is a must-visit destination. It is one of the region’s most popular holiday destinations, thanks to its proximity to both the coast and countryside, plus its various historic landmarks and family-friendly attractions. Our Alnwick Cottages are perfect for group holidays, both big and small, as our self-catering accommodations sleep between four and upwards of 10 guests. We also provide dog-friendly cottages in the area and if you do choose to bring your pooches along, you’ll find all sorts of fun walks and dog-friendly pubs and cafes nearby.

Alnwick and the local area fit the ‘fun for all the family’ brief. There are plenty of local walking routes in and around the village, including Hulne Park, the Lesbury Trail, and the Waterside Trail which follows the edges of the River Aln, a route set to put a smile on your face and get your dog’s tails wagging!

Alnwick Castle is the area’s most famous landmark and just one of many Northumbrian castles that are dotted across this historic region, another option being the nearby village of Warkworth's castle, where we have numerous cottages in the surrounding area. Alnwick Castle was once home to the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland, and then the Percy family, which it belonged to for over 700 years. In more recent years, the castle has been a popular Film and TV set location and has appeared in blockbusters like the Harry Potter franchise and Downton Abbey. ‘Potterheads’ are frequent visitors, so if you are one of them, you might want to check out Alnwick Castle’s broomstick lessons!

An equally magical place in Alnwick is Barter Books, one of Europe’s largest second-hand bookshops. This pet-friendly bookshop is complete with open fires, coffee bars and an ice cream parlour, and its quirkiness is evident from the little model railway track that runs over the tops of its endless bookshelves. Barter Books is most certainly a bookworm’s paradise and has to be added to your Alnwick bucket list.

There are so many things to do, and places to see in Alnwick, so get browsing, booking and planning today!
