Coastal Retreats Holiday Cottage Collection

This collection of holiday cottages is the definition of exclusive. Offering you unique properties with stylish, vibrant interiors and all manner of special extras right across the North East, Coastal Retreats properties are truly unique. All of our Coastal Retreats cottages are self-catering and sleep between 2 and 12 guests, making them perfect for any gathering. Whether you’re searching for a romantic bolthole for two, a place with a hearty kitchen for the whole family to gather round, or a midsize property for a well overdue reunion between friends, Coastal Retreats will have something for you.

Why the North East? Well the Northumberland coast, where the majority of our retreats are, is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and has some of the most beautiful coastal scenery in England. Along the coast you’ll find historical gems such as Bamburgh Castle and the semi-separated Holy Island, which is said to have been the birthplace of modern Christianity in England. The Bamburgh and Holy Island area is bustling with nature trails, sandy beaches, monasteries, castles and much much more, all ripe for exploring from one of our coastal retreats.

Also on the Northumberland coast, you’ll find Seahouses and Beadnell, two adjacent fishing villages full of charm. Craster and Embleton is another charming area where we have plenty of cottages for you to choose from. If you’re looking for expansive sandy shores and fresh seafood, then Craster and Embleton may be the perfect holiday spot for you. Amble and Warkworth are the up and coming holiday spots on the Northumberland coast, with the small village of Warkworth offers up historic attractions, boutique eateries and independent shops while Amble is a friendly port great for a spot of coastal walking.

Further up the coast towards the Scottish Border you’ll find our retreats in Berwick upon Tweed. Berwick is a gorgeous town seeped in Anglo-Scottish history, with a vibrant art scene and a large beach loved by paddlers, walkers and horse riders alike. Also on the Scottish Border is Melrose, the birthplace of Rugby Sevens and the home of even more retreats. Here you’ll find the dramatic landscape that surrounds you simply breathtaking, while being right in the middle of two nations, both easy to drive to and explore from Melrose.

If you’re looking to holiday in the Durham countryside then look no further than our holiday homes in Hamsterley Mill and Lanchester. Both are under 30 minutes away from Durham city centre in the car and are right on the doorstep of the Derwent Valley. They’re also both close to the North Pennines AONB, which is rich with forests, woodlands, waterways and parks for those looking to reconnect with the great outdoors.
