Stay at a large cottage in the Lake District

Bring together friends and family for a holiday to remember in one of our large Lake District cottages. On a self-catering holiday in the Lake District National Park, you’ll have the freedom to spend quality time together exploring the breathtaking lakes, mountains, coast, and countryside of Cumbria, where you’ll find a whole host of outdoor activities. From paddleboarding to rock climbing and wild swimming to mountain biking, there are fun activities to suit all ages and abilities. The Lake District is also the home of fell walking and there are 214 ‘Wainwrights’ throughout the National Park, offering spectacular views from their summits.

Your Lakeland holiday wouldn’t be complete without a visit to at least one of Cumbria’s famous lakes, such as Windermere, Derwentwater, Ullswater, Coniston Water, or Grasmere. Keen walkers will most likely have Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain, on the holiday itinerary. However, there’s also plenty of choice for less experienced climbers, with gentle routes (still with spectacular views) found at Catbells, Orrest Head, and Latrigg. Cumbria also has some magnificent forests, such as Whinlatter and Grizedale, where you’ll find outdoor activities and woodland walks. The Lake District has many beautiful towns and villages to explore, including the pretty market town of Keswick, the waterside town of Bowness-on-Windermere, and the coastal village of Ravenglass. Family attractions include Beatrix Potter’s Hill Top, William Wordsworth’s Dove Cottage, and the castles at Lowther and Munster.
