Forming the major southern section of a traditional Lakeland country house and sitting in a commanding position overlooking the serene waters of Grasmere, this impressive retreat has historical connections to the Wordsworth family. Sleeping eight guests, the four-bedroom country house will inspire the poet in you with its glorious scenery. Bring your four-legged friend and stride straight out to follow the footpath up to Huntingstile Crag and Silver How. From here, take in the panoramic vistas over the Langdale Valley, Windermere and Rydal Water. Hike to Loughrigg and Rydal Cave, both just 1.5 miles away. The village of Grasmere, where you can stock up on the famous local gingerbread, is a pleasant 1-mile walk from the house. Venture into Ambleside, 5 miles away, to shop, dine out and see the remains of the Roman fort. From Waterhead, 5.5 miles away, you can take a scenic lake cruise out on mighty Windermere.
Return from your explorations of the enchanting Lake District and make your way into the large open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Unpack your provisions and cook a meal in the charming kitchen for your friends and family to enjoy at the table. You will find all the appliances and equipment you require to assist your cooking. Afterwards, head through to the lounge to set up a game in the glow of the crackling wood burner. Read a book or take in the views from the tranquil library. The beautiful, carpeted bedrooms are all up on the first floor of the house. Wake up in any of these sumptuous spaces and gaze out across the wonderful surroundings. Two of the bedrooms, one of which has an en-suite shower room, are super-king-sized. There is also a king-size bedroom with a handbasin, and a twin bedroom. The spa-like family bathroom, with both a walk-in shower and a bathtub, is also on this floor.
Stroll around the gardens to take in the verdant views and colourful blooms in the spring and summer, the glorious red and golden shades of the leaves in autumn and the snow-capped peaks in the winter. Watch the sun set as you dine on the patio or play hide and seek with your children, supervising them at all times, as there is a stream, plus some low walls and steep drops. There is private parking here for four cars, but please note that due to narrow access to the property, vehicles larger than regular SUVs cannot be accommodated.
