Description

Ellers Close is a beautiful stone built semi-detached property offering plenty of character. Set in a peaceful location and with it's own garden this cottage offers comfortable and spacious accommodation for 4 people. Ellers Close is one of four dwellings which made up Ellers Farm, with the main farm house being built in 1850. Situated in the Loughrigg and Skelwith Bridge area Ellers Close is close to the town of Ambleside, where you have a choice of shops, bars and restaurants to enjoy. Skelwith Bridge, Elterwater and Chapel Stile are also great spots to visit locally, and offer amenities such as pubs, cafes and a local shop too. There are many walks and bike rides direct from the doorstep of this house, so you certainly won't run out of places to explore on your holiday. Loughrigg Tarn is easily accessible, and you can go a little further to explore Grasmere and the rest of the Langdale Valleys.

The front door into Ellers Close leads into the kitchen where you will find a well equipped and recently updated space. Equipment includes ceramic hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge with freezer section, dishwasher and washing machine. The dining room is spacious with it's own log burner and dining seating for 4 people. Moving through the house Ellers Close offers a spacious lounge with high ceilings and fabulous views facing south and the garden. There is an open fire in the lounge which is great for the colder months, making the lounge cosy and homely while you relax with a book, watching TV or playing cards. Upstairs from the dining room you will find two comfortable single bedrooms and a large double room with king size bed, all with their own storage and comfortable beds. The family bathroom with shower over bath, WC and sink has been recently refurbished.

Outside the property Ellers Close has its own private, enclosed and large garden with different areas of lawn, seating and a small stream running through it too. You can explore the secret, winding path which climbs upwards to the top of the garden, which is a great spot for a morning coffee or glass of wine in the evening. There is private off road parking for 2 cars.

Wifi is provided for guest use. 2 well behaved pets welcome.

N.B. There's a lovely water feature in the garden at Ellers Close, however because this is located within the lawn area, please ensure children are supervised when playing.

Reviews

This is my 2nd time at this cottage and already booked again in August

Ms F,

We had such a wonderful stay and loved Ellers Close. The location is fabulous, so peaceful, and it proved a great base for exploring the local fells. The house is very warm, clean and comfortable, with beautiful views from every window. Our children loved the garden and we all enjoyed watching the birds at the feeders. We hope to return and would not hesitate to recommend the place to others.

Mrs C,

The cottage is beautiful. The garden is superb and very safe for our 2 dogs

Mrs C,

Fantastic location. Characterful property. Idyllic garden. Overall, superb. - I hope we will be back!

Mr W,

Lovely cottage, lovely en losed garden in a beautiful location with many walks. Ambleside, Bo'ness and Coniston all within a few minutes drive. The addition of garden furniture would have made it perfect during the warm days/evenings.

Mr Anthony B,

As described.

Mr Andrew W,

The location of the cottage was excellent. It was warm but lacked some of the homely touches that would have made it feel more comfortable. The layout and standard of furnishings was adequate but felt a bit thrown together! Cleanliness was ok but floors were not terribly clean.

Mrs Ruth S,

Should have been excellent! Enjoym

Mr Craig D,

Review: Excellent property, Well described, and a wonderful location. Cosy period cottage, with everything you'd need. Garden well enclosed for dogs, once the gate is closed. Bedrooms roomy. Excellent bathroom and modern kitchen. Plenty of local guide-books/ maps to hand. (One containing some history of the cottage "Life in Langdale". Despite being a period cottage, was easy to keep warm. Will return. Note to Original Cottages: Would be good if we could have had a later checkout, especially as no-one was coming that day, and the cleaners didn't arrive at 10am. Also too many signs pinned to all the cupboards / bookshelves saying "don't use as this won't be cleaned". Not sure what that meant, but pointless, and over the top. A book is a book, and part of the property experience (ie the local guidebooks/ history of the valley etc. The signs should be removed, and they are unsightly in a period cottage. Also Original Cottages had put up a sign saying to check-out at 9am above the cooker, despite the property guide at the property saying 11am, and the booking saying 10am. Finally, there are two key lockers in the wood-shed, which was confusing, as I couldn't open the first one, and found the second one (containing the key) by chance in the dark. It's on the left wall next to the light switch. Details should be updated, As should the fact that you should enter the property via the kitchen and not the "front-door". Thanks

Mr Gareth G,
