Description

This stylish apartment, with central location in the market town of Kendal, is ideal for a break away without the need to use a car everyday to reach amenities, as well as great base to explore the Lake District or the Yorkshire Dales. 

Step up 13 steps into the apartment located above a business premises on the pedestrian road of Finkles Street. The entrance hall has a large storage area, ideal for coats, boots and dog leads. The internal 13 steps lead to a hallway. At the end of the hallway is the open-plan living, kitchen, dining room, providing a light and warm space to unwind following a day of activity; sink into one of the plush settees as you browse the TV for some evening entertainment, with the electric flame effect fire adding atmosphere. The living room also has the benefit of a double sofa bed which is available as an alternative option for 4 people staying at the property and not wanting to share the double.

The very well-equipped kitchen is fitted with all the mod cons for your stay, ideal for rustling up a home cooked meal after a day's exploring.

The dining area comfortably seats six and is ideal for enjoying an evening meal from the nearby takeaways, or breakfast while planning a day out in the Lakes. There are two well presented bedrooms to choose from, one fitted with a double bed, the second bedroom with a king size zip & link (available as a twin room on request). 

There is also a family bathroom with walk-in shower, ideal to wash off the sand after a day at the beach, and a utility room with washing machine, drying rack and freezer. 

The apartment is dog-friendly and, although there is no outside area, there are plenty of open spaces by the river and parks within walking distance, which are perfect to allow your pooch to stretch their legs.

Parking isn't available at the property but a South Lakeland District Council parking permit (valid in all SLDC car parks throughout the Lake District and Cumbria) can be provided. A cash deposit of £75 is required on arrival, which is refunded providing the permit is returned upon departure. Kendal Train Station is only 10 minute walking distance, with direct trains to Manchester and links to London.

Kendal itself has the Abbot Hall Art Gallery, museum and the Brewery Arts Center which houses festivals throughout the year, such as the International Mountain Festival and Comic Arts festival, while the Brewery Arts has live music, films and comedy throughout the year to sample. There is a twice weekly market, many eateries and an array of cobbled historic yards, which have a good selection of independent shops. There is a local train station as well the main Oxenholme station which can also take you to Staveley where you can sample the Hawkshead brewery or easily travel to Windermere where to you can enjoy lake activities such as cruising. 

Old Stables Loft, Finkles is in an excellent location to enjoy Kendal and is very convenient to explore the Lakes. A perfect holiday spot for you and four legged members of your family to explore and enjoy this beautiful area year round.

Very clean, safe and central apartment. Owners have the cafe below (closes at 4pm). We had a late lunch there when we arrived and popped down for a takeaway bacon and mushroom roll the following morning which was lovely!

The apartment was immaculate and spacious but very cosy with lots of small thoughtful details to ensure a comfortable stay. The owners could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. Wander through the bustling streets of Kendal and explore the famous 18th century yards that once formed the network of this trade town. An array of spectacular pubs and restaurants are scattered within the Lyth Valley itself, serving delicious food prepared with locally sourced produce and local ales to suit.

Just a short drive from Kendal, you can immerse yourself into the heritage of Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall, boasting stunning 17th century gardens, fine furniture and ornate plasterwork. Ascend Castle Hill to discover the ruins of Kendal Castle and the wonderful views over Kendal and the surrounding Lakeland fells.
