This deceptively spacious apartment is in a fantastic central Grasmere location, you will have everything you need for a great holiday right on your doorstep! Spinners is located on the first floor of The Old Coach House on Stock Lane, above the lovely Chocolate Cottage shop and Goody Blakes restaurant (we recommend the yummy fish and chips!). The fantastic amenities that Grasmere has to offer are all in walking distance of Spinners, with multiple cafes, restaurants, bars and shops to choose from and enjoy. Other places that are within walking distance of Spinners and are a 'must' when visiting the Lake District include Allan Bank, Dove Cottage, Grasmere Lake, Grasmere Gingerbread Shop, Faeryland and Wordsworth Daffodil Garden.

Guests staying at Spinners can make use of its own off road parking space located to the rear of The Old Coach House.

After taking a flight of stairs (with handrails) to the first floor you will reach Spinners front door. As you enter the apartment you will find plenty of hanging space for your coats and an area for your shoes and boots to be stored in the hallway. Past a well stocked bookcase the hallway leads to the recently and tastefully decorated Lounge/Diner. The dining area features a lovely wooden table and chairs (for 4) where you can enjoy family meals together. Look out for the cute Herdy accessories in the cabinet too! The lounge area offers comfy seating on 2 sofas and a wooden chair which is in the perfect spot to watch passers by beneath you in Grasmere village. As well as the user friendly details the kitchen offers all the appliances you need for a comfortable stay. Induction hob, electric oven, fridge, freezer, compact dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster and Nespresso machine are all available for guest use. Being well equipped and thoughtfully designed you won't need to go to restaurants every night during your stay at Spinners!

Reviews

I highly recommend this cottage. It’s location is brilliant, quiet yet part of a lovely community that is easily accessible to lovely walks and public transport if you need a break from driving. The cottage is spacious and very homely. A lovely holiday retreat.

Ms S,

Spinners is a very comfortable and well equipped apartment in the centre of Grasmere. Beds were very comfortable and lack of noise makes for a good nights sleep . Lots of places nearby for coffee and meals. Lots of walks from the door

Mr K,

A lovely cottage in a lovely location.

Mr S,

Lovely apartment. Comfy beds and sofa. Ideal location.

Mrs M,

Lovely accommodation in a beautiful setting. The kitchen was really well equipped complete with washing machine/dryer. The location was superb and the village was quiet at night (a concern was noise from the restaurant downstairs but we never heard it once). The bedrooms were really big with plenty of storage and nice comfy beds. Having off street parking was a plus as well. I couldn't improve upon this property, and the price was remarkably low compared to other places we have stayed.

Mr D,

Lovely apartment. Very comfortable beds and very well equipped.

Mrs B,

A lovely, spacious apartment for a short stay, located in the village. Ideal for shops and walking.

Ms T,

The only problem we had was getting TVs in all the bedrooms and Lounge to work. The instructions for the TVs were good, however most of the remote controls had something wrong with the batteries. We bought our own batteries for the lounge TV remote control. All the remote controls needed checking and cleaning inside. At least two remote controls had batteries leaking chemicals they were that bad. I did complain in a e-mail to Original Cottages but got no response. The dreaded work by painters outside the property at the time of our visit only causes minor in convenience in the end. Overall we did like this property very much, found it nice and comfortable and would certainly wish to go back some time.

Mr M,

This cottage was great, we went in quite sceptical as we normally avoid apartments, but this was excellent. The set up meant the kids were able to keep to themselves if they liked, and they had fun playing hide and seek in the sprawling set up. We wouldn't think twice about staying again.

Mr B,

Cottage is really good in terms of the size, bedrooms and location. We loved it.

Mr B,

Comfortable and homely cottage. Excellent location. Very responsive and friendly team member when I had to contact them whilst there.

Mr W,

On the whole fantastic value for money and well equipped apartment in a super location really enjoyed our stay

Mrs N,

The layout of the apartment is quirky and fun and is surprisingly spacious inside. The quality of the kitchen and its gadgets is excellent.

Mr J,

Loved the apartment, very spacious and cosy. All equipment is high end. Bed was very comfortable. Location just perfect. Would definitely return.

Mrs R,

Very well equipped and lots of room with comfortable settees and beds.

Mr B,

Good cottage. Quirky design (beams in bedroom). Comfortable beds and very well equipped. Has night storage heating which is not easy to get at the right level - and I imagine that fans will be needed in summer as the cottage will pick up the sun all afternoon. Location fantastic and 100 metres from the centre of Grasmere. We had a great short break here in December 2023 - and really enjoyed staying in the cottage - and also in Grasmere.

Mr P,

Fantastic property which was perfectly set up for a family, even bigger than the photos suggested and laid out so well that it meant everyone had their own space. Beautifully furnished with lovely local arts and crafts and genuinely the most well equipped holiday rental we've ever stayed in. Absolutely loved our stay and we will definitely be back :)

Miss R,

As you should know, our appreciation of the property and enjoyment of our holiday was badly affected by complete lack of water supply to the property from 10am on Monday 21 Aug, when we notified you, until 4pm on Wed 23 Aug. At 11am on Mon, your text indicated that you were sorry this issue was affecting our holiday, which you repeated in an email at 7pm. My email at 8am on Tues indicated that we expect to be reimbursed for disruption and time wasted. Plumbers first attended late on Monday afternoon, and told us that they had not been contacted until 4pm. At 2.22pm on Tuesday, you told me that plumbers had reattended and hadn't managed to locate the issue, and that the homeowner had contacted United Utilities. They worked (noisily) from 1am until 3am on Wednesday morning, so we looked forward to having water in the morning. We had none, to our surprise and the surprise of Paul, maintenance man for United Cottages. Paul told me in a later phonecall (2.20pm) that UU had solved the problem but neglected to turn the water supply back on. Paul was very helpful and supportive throughout, in person and by phone, although he was unable to solve the problem. Finally, I should mention that we were offered alternative properties on Monday (very inconvenient in Penrith and Carlisle!) and Wednesday (after the problem had been solved, although we had not been informed). I look forward to hearing from you re proposed reimbursement for the affect on our enjoyment of our holiday.

Mr C,

Perfect property for exploring the Lakes, great central location for all areas of the Lakes. Right on the Main Street in Grasmere and the added bonus of a dedicated parking space (big enough for our Ford Custom Van). Property is amazing with everything you need, two bathrooms, WI-FI and washing machine (along with all the other essentials). Very clean and comfortable, great large rooms and a good area to store coats and boots just as you get through the door. The only problem was that we should have booked two weeks, not just one. Would definitely book to return again.

Mr E,

Overall excellent holiday cottage. Great location. Parking caused slight inconvenience with other neighbouring properties although issues easily resolved.

Prof Stephen G,

Leaving aside the smell from the restaurant downstairs (which to be fair your listing mentions) the property was very well equipped, presented and located. The restaurant smell was not really an issue for us as the weather was cool enough that we didn't need to open any windows, but I would be cautious about re-booking in high summer.

Mrs Louise S,
