Description

A delightful conversion with period features standing in the grounds of the owner's home at the centre of this pretty village, just perfect for two and a babe in arms. This charming property has been beautifully furnished and fitted with great care, quality and consideration.  There is a mezzanine bedroom with en-suite bathroom and the property has a small patio with garden furniture and a firepit. The property is adjacent to the newly reinstated 18th century serpentine walk that was a familiar route for Jane Austen when visiting her brother on the nearby Goodnestone estate.  The village pub, The Fitzwalter Arms, which serves food, is also just a few steps along the road.  The owner's chickens are kept across the road and you will be invited to go and collect your own free range eggs or, in Spring, to go and meet the new-born lambs.

Out and About:
This is a perfect spot for lovers of nature, the countryside and walkers. Just a few minutes walk is the beautiful Goodnestone Park with its delightful gardens and tearoom, a favourite place to stay for Jane Austen. Wingham Wildlife park and Howletts zoo are great places to visit for both young and old. Gibsons Farm shop is a half an hour's walk or 2 minutes by car, for your culinary delights and ingredients, locally produced meats, ready meals, florist, cafe and an array of Kent produce. The seaside towns of Deal, Sandwich and Ramsgate are within easy reach for a lovely day out by the sea, and the cathedral city of Canterbury is just 20 minutes drive away.

Reviews

The Nut Hatch is the perfect location if you want to experience the peace and tranquility of village life in Kent. We stayed for five days and spent one day walking around the locality of Goodnestone ( lots of public footpaths and wildlife in the area ) and visiting the gardens of Goodnestone House then ending up in the local pub, The Fitzwalter Arms ( literally 150 yards from the Nut Hatch ). The food served in the pub was very nice and is well worth a visit. All the locals we met were so friendly which made the day so enjoyable. This location makes it easy to reach many of the County's attractions. For example, Canterbury 11.9 miles ( 24 minutes ), White cliffs of Dover 13 miles ( 23 minutes ). Last but not least, the owners of the Nut Hatch, Emma and James were so welcoming. Full of local knowledge and very helpful. The accommodation is well set out clean and tidy and has everything you need. Loved the log burner and the clear and precise instructions for lighting it made for a perfect fire. This is the first holiday let we've stayed in where you can have as many logs as you like for the log burner ( and not have to pay when the first batch runs out ) In conclusion - Lovely accommodation, Lovely hosts and lovely countryside. Couldn't ask for more.

Mrs S,

Cosy, comfortable cottage. Ideally situated for country walking. Excellent village pub serving good food a couple of minutes walk away. Country park cafe a bit further past the pub, serves breakfast etc. Canterbury 20 minutes drive.

Mr B,

A delightful, bijou property. Ideally located in Goodnestone with access to key locations on the coast. Although small, it offered comfortable and very clean accommodation suitable for a couple on a short stay.

Mrs P,

The Nut Hatch is a great place to stay for a couple or very small family. The Cottage is very well placed for visitors to that part of Kent. We had a great time and thoroughly recommend it.

Mrs N,

Wonder comfortable little cottage for a completely relaxing getaway. Tiny but very friendly village and easy access to main roads for sightseeing. Owners were lovely and made us feel very welcome. Highly recommended!
