Description

Set just off the high street of popular Leintwardine, bordering the counties of South Shropshire, North Herefordshire and the Welsh Marches, this period cottage provides small families, couples, and friends with a cosy base from which to explore the delights of the surrounding area. The cottage's location allows guests to immerse themselves in the charming village atmosphere, with easy walks leading from the door to the two local, welcoming pubs. Visit historic Ludlow (10 miles), renowned for its medieval castle, vibrant cultural scene, and stunning Tudor architecture. The area is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts; keen hikers can stride out through nearby Mortimer Forest (6 miles), head deep into the Shropshire Hills (5 miles), or enjoy easy access to both the Mortimer Trail and the Offa’s Dyke footpath (both within 10 miles).

Stepping into the property through the side porch offers access to the bright and welcoming conservatory/sitting room; boasting a sunny space overlooking the private garden where cosy sofas are gathered around a Smart TV – enjoy the sights and sounds of nature in the garden from this peaceful room. When stomachs start to rumble, head through to the well-appointed kitchen which boasts all you need to cook up feasts for your loved ones, perhaps using the local ingredients you sourced earlier in the day. Gather in the traditional dining room to enjoy the chef’s work, which is set in the original part of the cottage where low ceilings and exposed wooden beams combine with a electric wood effect stove in a large fireplace. Completing the ground floor is a handy utility/laundry room and a well-equipped family shower room. Heading upstairs, the character of this period cottage continues through its wonky walls and quirky spaces. At night, choose from two delightful double bedrooms, both with ample storage space and served by the family bathroom that completes the property’s interior.

To the rear of the cottage is a stunning, private garden, enclosed for the safety of young children and dogs. An abundance of plants, flowers and shrubs border this lovely space with a small lawn that is perfect for soaking in the sun. A flagged patio area offers outside seating and al fresco dining in good weather.

Reviews

Lovely village with great walks from the door. As previously mentioned the road is noisy but didn’t worry us in January with the windows shut! Quick note that there isn’t a woodburner, logs etc as this is now an electric version. There is a tiny freezer and no dishwasher for those this matters to. Comfortable seating and off road parking were welcome. The village has a well provisioned Spar and a butchers plus two pubs.

Mrs H,

Had a lovely stay at Tansy Cottage for 5 nights over Christmas. We arrived in the dark to a lovely warm cottage with xmas tree and decorations. The cottage was very well equipped with everything we would need. Very relaxing, quiet xmas for us as it was the first time ever away from home. Good walks (if rather muddy!) from the village and a lovely village local (The Sun Inn). Our 2 dogs loved it also. The village itself has a lot of history going back to Roman times. Thanks Cindy and Holly.

Mrs G,

Fantastic cottage, lovely location & absolutely everything provided. Full marks to Holly & Cindy for making our stay enjoyable.

Mr H,

A very comfortable stay in a charming cottage. Perfect spot for exploring the area.

Mrs P,

We stayed in Tansy Cottage for a week and could not have been more impressed. Everything you could want is in the cottage, the owners have thought of everything. It was very clean and comfortable and the private parking is great as you do not have to leave your car on the front. I just cannot praise it enough. Although the road was busy at times we did not notice it and you are in the right spot to be near Ludlow and Leominster. The pub, the Sun, just a walk down the road is welcoming and dog friendly. We will definitiely be back for another stay.

Ms W,

This is a lovely cottage. Very well provided for in terms of accommodation, with everything you need to self cater, right down to kitchen equipment. Spotlessly clean. Lovely village and surroundings. The front bedroom would be a bit noisy if you wanted the window open as it fronts the road - but there was a bit of agricultural traffic at the time of our visit due to harvesting time, so perhaps worse than normal. The small courtyard garden doesn’t get much sunlight - only need to bear in mind if you intend spending daytimes at the cottage, but I think most people will be out exploring. We would re-visit.

Mr C,

We thoroughly enjoyed our week in Tansy cottage. Everything we needed was provided and the owner was incredibly helpful, even providing a cycling helmet! The maps and books were really useful and interesting. In the village both the pubs were good and the small supermarket at the garage and the butcher were excellent. There are lovely walks and cycling from the door.
