To the east of the town centre is 50 acres of wildlife-friendly marsh and greenery, which makes it an idyllic route for dog walking or donning your bicycle helmets and following the National Cycle Route, which crosses the area.

Places such as Leiston Abbey and Sibton Abbey (13 miles) boast impressive monastic ruins with incredible architectural features, whilst families with youngsters may like to have animal encounters at Africa Alive Zoo (6 miles).
