Description

Overview
Looking for flexibility for a large family gathering, or a get-together of friends who need their own space? Look no further than the versatile Babbacombe, Wellswood and Rutland - a complex formed of a spacious former B&B thoughtfully converted for carefree self-catering stays for groups of upto ten, and two modern mews cottages, each sleeping up to four guests. The complex comprises of three properties: Rutland Lodge, Babbacombe Mews and Wellswood Mews, all of which can be booked individually for smaller parties if preferred.

Sitting within comfortable reach of Torquay's renowned blue-flag award winning beaches, the complex is perfect for exploring the delights of the English Riviera. Pubs, restaurants and numerous family-friendly attractions all sit within a short walk, including Kent's Cavern prehistoric caves, the charming villages of Wellswood and Babbacombe (after which the two Mews cottages are named) and, in the opposite direction, the bustle and vibrancy of Torquay's picturesque marina, complete with a selection of eclectic bars and eateries.

Rutland Lodge

Rutland Lodge offers a well-equipped kitchen with access onto a separate conservatory, as well as a separate dining room which can accommodate upto twenty guests over two long tables. An ornate fireplace also sets the character of the room off beautifully, tipping some of the more traditional charm of the house. Completing the public areas, a separate lounge offers three 2/3 seater sofas, an armchair and separate chairs, together with a freeview TV with DVD player. For more cosy winter nights, a wood burning stove also creates a fantastic atmosphere, and a complimentary basket of logs is provided.

Rutland Lodge offers five bedrooms to sleep upto ten guests, set over two twin rooms, a double bedroom and two king-sized bedrooms. Each room comes complete with TV and DVD player, as well as each with separate en-suite (two with shower units, two with baths, and one with both shower and bath separately). The bedrooms are mainly situated on the first floor, with the exception of one on the ground floor providing for easier access.

For your convenience, there is also a washing machine & tumble dryer in Rutland Lodge which are located in the utility area in the cellar

Wellswood Mews and Babbacombe Mews

Both Wellswood and Babbacombe Mews have been crafted in a similar manner to provide like-for-like accommodation. Each offers an open-plan ground floor with living/dining area, well-equipped kitchen with electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer and dishwasher, as well as a separate lounge area with ample comfortable seating. There is also a washing machine and tumble dryer in each of the mews houses, as well as a ground floor shower room with WC and basin.

On the first floor of each property, two spacious bedrooms provide for a relaxing night’s sleep, with one king and a twin bedroom in each property, as well as a skylit family bathroom with overhead shower attachment.

Outside Space
In between the properties there is a sunny courtyard, ideal for waking up with a local paper and morning coffee in hand, or enjoying afternoon drinks as the sun begins to set overhead. Modern rattan garden furniture is provided, including chairs and tables for alfresco dining. There is a relaxing ‘Hydropool’ hot tub which can be used by up to eight guests at any one time, and a lit outside kitchen area with large sink, working area, BBQ and pizza oven. The space is communal to the four properties on the estate (the fourth, Clevehurst Cottage, can also be booked if required), but is private to the complex.

Please note: The hot tub  is available from Easter until 1st October the outdoor space is seasonal and suitable for dry warm months only

Parking: upto five cars can park in the off-road parking area, again only shared by Clevehurst Cottage. Alternatively additional parking may be available on the road directly outside of the property which is unrestricted.
