From your doorstep, walk or cycle towards Pitmedden Forest, then make for Falkland village (5 miles), where you can pair a visit to the restored Renaissance palace with the waterfalls and woodlands of Maspie Den. Loch Leven (12 miles) is another lovely option for an active day, with waterside trails where you might spot red squirrels and seasonal flocks of migratory geese. If you fancy stretching the day out, continue to St Andrews (22.5 miles) for a beach walk or stop by the Lindores Abbey Distillery (8 miles). Knockhill Racing Circuit offers something livelier within 20 miles.
Step inside this cosy, wood-clad lodge and into a wonderfully light-filled open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, where windows wrap around the social space, flooding it with natural light. The surrounding farmland and distant hills are always in view, giving the lodge a wonderfully secluded feel that’s made for a romantic escape. The fully equipped kitchen has everything needed for an easy self-catering stay, including an electric oven, ceramic hob, and a L’OR coffee machine. Beyond the social space, the super-king-size bedroom offers another peaceful place to switch off, with its own Smart TV and a picture window overlooking the countryside. The bed can be arranged as a twin if requested when booking, and a contemporary shower room with walk-in shower and WC completes the lodge.
Each evening, make your way out to the patio and watch as the sun dips behind the horizon.
