The banks of Derwentwater are also just 0.5 miles away, where you can hire a motorboat or tackle the spectacular 10-mile circuit around the lake. Keen walkers and climbers will be spoilt for choice, with Skiddaw (5 miles) and Blencathra (7 miles) providing rewarding challenges.
