The property is in a beautiful location. It is secluded and quiet. The bedrooms are small and there would be a lack of storage space if fully occupied. Take handwash because this isn't provided.

We absolutely loved our stay at Friar's Hide. We will definitely be back in future. Great location, only 25 mins from Newcastle but still has the holiday feel of being away from the City and the lovely rural surroundings. The accomodation is very modern and fresh. Spotless from top to bottom. Has everything you need. Great location for walks and raRead morembling etc. right next to a 14th century chapel which isn't something you see every day. Ruth and her husband were very welcoming. Highly recommended Hide

Our second visit in two years. A great location to either go for walks from the door or drive not to far to get out on the moors. Handily placed for a visit to Hadrians wall, Beamish and the Tanfield steam railway (complete with lineside fire and fire brigade on our trip). There aren't enough stars to give this for the location...deserves at least 10! Absolutely fabulous setting surrounded by trees & wildlife and the amazing bird life. Set within easy access to walking & cycle routes along the Derwent Trail and yet still close to all the amenities & the A1 for exploring by car.

Lovely place, view of the ruin and daily visits by deer. Also saw other wildlife. Track to the property a little challenging after dark as not lit, but fine. Great location for us. Put Gibside Chapel in my Sat nav which worked well as it is directly opposite. The owners were friendly and very helpful
