This rural escape has a delightfully secluded farmland setting, nestled just .5 miles outside Castleton, famous for unique Blue John stone, caverns and dramatic scenery. The village is the start of many Peak District walks taking in Mam Tor, Peveril Castle and Winnats Pass. Kinder Scout (5 miles) is the highest point in the Peaks and a perennial favourite with its dramatic moorland scenery. Chatsworth House and Estate (11 miles) is great for a day trip – go early as the parkland and gardens are extensive. Take your pick from Derbyshire’s caverns with several within easy striking distance. Discover Speedwell Cabin (.5 miles) by boat in old lead mining tunnels, or check out the rare Blue John mineral and maybe even some stalactites at Treak Cliff Cavern and Blue John Cavern (2-3 miles). Or head out and walk or cycle one of the many routes criss-crossing this beautiful region.

This cosy shepherd’s hut makes a wonderful romantic escape, thoughtfully designed to create a welcoming retreat for couples, explorers and nature lovers alike. Step inside and you’ll find a beautifully crafted interior with warm wood tones and charming details that give the space a calm, restful feel. The comfortable double bed is tucked neatly to one side, creating a clever layout that leaves room for a small table and chairs, perfect for relaxed breakfasts, reading a book, or spreading out a map to plan the day’s adventures. Simple self-catering is easy with the handy kitchenette. Also a private en suite shower room, adding an extra level of comfort to your stay. A wood burner keeps the hut warm and inviting throughout the seasons, making it a lovely place to return to after days spent exploring the surrounding countryside.

Outside, relax on the terrace, unwind and soak in the breathtaking scenery, with view towards Mam Tor. Fire up the BBQ and enjoy alfresco dining beneath wide Peak District skies, with stunning walks all around and views of rolling countryside where the iconic Mam Tor rises proudly among the hills.
