Resting in the small village of Tollerton, this terraced retreat is situated on a working farm and is surrounded by a huge expanse of countryside walks and miles of country lanes should you want to explore by bike. It is situated near the Howardian Hills and North York Moors, both within 17 miles. Within the local village is a well-stocked shop for picking up any essentials and a village pub. Nearby is Easingwold (4 miles), a food lovers' paradise with cosy pubs, charming cafes and tearooms. A stay here wouldn't be complete without a visit to York (10 miles), where you can meander around York Minster and the city walls, and browse the cobbled lanes lined with unique shops. The market town of Knaresborough with lovely river walks and the famous Mother Shipton's Cave is under 20 miles away and the spa town of Harrogate (21 miles) is also well worth exploring with its great eateries and cafes, as well as the attractions of the Royal Pump Room and the Valley Gardens.

As you step through the entrance, you're welcomed into a spacious hallway, thoughtfully designed with hooks for coats and a convenient spot to leave behind muddy boots. Venture further into the open-plan living space, where high ceilings and characterful beams draw the eyes upward, and floor-to-ceiling windows invite natural light to flood the area. This expansive space seamlessly integrates a well-equipped kitchen, a charming dining area, and a lounge adorned with a cosy wood burner – an inviting sanctuary at a day's end. Choose a film on the Smart TV while sitting on the plush corner sofa. For convenience there is a downstairs WC and a utility room housing a washer/dryer. Ascend the stairs to unveil three bedrooms – a versatile super-king zip-and-link, an elegant super-king with an en-suite shower room and WC, and a snug double room. Each bedroom features ample storage space, USB power sockets, and a Smart TV for leisurely lie-ins. The family bathroom boasts a bath with an overhead shower and a WC.

Slide open the glazed doors from the lounge to access your private patio, where a bubbling hot tub beckons beneath a star-studded sky. Complete with outdoor furniture, it's the perfect setting for summer BBQs, creating a seamless transition between indoor comfort and outdoor relaxation. We had a fabulous short stay at Rooster Retreat. Made very welcome on arrival and had help packing the car on departure which was appreciated. The property is really comfortable and spacious. We all enjoyed the hot tub. It is a very peaceful place to stay, the neighbouring property was occupied but we didn't feel overlooked and the soundproofRead moreing between the properties is good as we couldn't hear anything when we were inside. The welcome hamper was a very nice touch. Hide

Lovely accommodation, spacious and clean. Beds were very comfortable. Perfect location for exploring areas and bus stop just at the end of the driveway that went straight into York Centre. Hot tub and garden were well kept. We had a lovely week thank you!

Roosters Retreat is lovely - newly renovated and very smart. The courtyard garden is snug, with good-quality chairs. The hot tub is great! We enjoyed sitting in the garden watching the swallows fly around catching insects. The cottage was lovely and very comfortable - great beds and couches. Unfortunately, in the kitchen several plates anRead mored bowls had been put away dirty. One bowl was absolutely filthy, with dried-on food stuck all over it. Two oven trays were also dirty - oily to touch and with encrusted food burned on. The other oven tray was peeling, so we couldnt use that. The two frying pans were badly scratched and not safe to use. The kitchen was lovely, but these oversights were disappointing, in a holiday cottage that is supposed to be luxury. However, the cottage manager was really helpful throughout: she responded quickly to my emails before our stay asking for restaurant recommendations, which I really appreciated, and she dealt well with my email re the kitchen during our stay. There is loads to do from the cottage - local walks from the doorstep, Beningbrough Hall is only a few miles away, there are river walks. It's a lovely area with lots to explore! Hide

The cottage was absolutely faultless, it was immaculate and smelt amazing. The people we met were all so lovely and made us feel very welcome. The sofa was so comfortable as were the beds, the TVs were huge, the hot tub was the best (and cleanest) weve ever been in and the appliances were all Miele and a dream to use! We cannot wait to return! WillRead more be rebooking very soon! Hide
