We would rate this 4 out of 5 stars! ! We really enjoyed our stay at the Little Beach House and, overall, its a lovely, clean and spacious property in a fantastic location. The absolute best thing about it is the beach it really is on your doorstep. You can go through the gate at the bottom of the garden, down some fairly steep steps and across thRead moree grassy dunes to a lovely sandy/pebbly beach, which wasnt particularly busy while we were there. Theres also a great fish and chip shop nearby, and Morrisons, Sainsburys and other larger shops are only around a 10-minute drive away. The reason wed give 4 rather than 5 stars is mainly due to a few things that affected our enjoyment of the stay. There is a large beach house which sleeps 17 right next door, which is clearly aimed at larger families and groups. When it was occupied, particularly over the weekend, it could be very noisy, with footballs regularly coming over the fence, so people just walking into the garden to retrieve, and lots of general noise. The biggest issue for us was the indoor swimming pool complex, which is situated only around two feet from the Little Beach House. Unfortunately, the acoustics mean that the noise from the pool travels and echoes considerably. The people staying there were using the pool until quite late in the evening, so we could hear lots of shouting, talking and general noise from the pool. Of course, they were there to enjoy themselves and absolutely have every right to do so, but for us, as a couple looking forward to a peaceful and relaxing break, it did impact the tranquillity of the Little Beach House. On another occasion even tho the house was empty people used the pool. Another important point for anyone staying with small dogs is that the garden isnt secure for them. The end of the garden is sectioned off with wires on poles, with roughly 6 inches between each line of wire, and in some places the gaps were even wider. Our small dachshunds went straight through and managed to get out. We had to go out and buy netting ourselves to cover the fencing and make the garden safe. This also helped prevent the many dogs that wandered up to the fence from getting into the garden. We would definitely recommend the owners address this, as the garden being advertised as suitable for dogs could give owners of small dogs the impression that it is secure. We were also disappointed to find that the hot tub came with an additional 90 charge. When we booked, hot tub was listed as one of the facilities, but we were contacted a week before our stay and told we would need to pay extra if we wanted to use it. We feel this should either be included in the booking price or clearly stated in the listing that an additional charge applies, so guests know this before booking, we really was not aware of this. Aside from these points, the Little Beach House itself is lovely. Its clean, roomy and comfortable. The stairs up to the lounge/TV area are very steep, so this is worth bearing in mind, but the views across the sea from the lounge are beautiful. Overall, we had a great stay and when the neighbouring large beach house was empty, it was lovely and peaceful. The location, especially having the beach literally at the bottom of the garden, is fantastic. Our main reservation would be that we personally wouldnt have enjoyed having the neighbouring property fully occupied for the whole week, as the noise from both the guests and the swimming pool does have an impact on the enjoyment and peacefulness of the Little Beach House. A lovely property in a brilliant location, but there are a few things we feel future guests particularly couples wanting a quiet break or anyone bringing small dogs should be aware of. Hide
