The hamlet of Sedgehill is ideal for those seeking a peaceful base. Just 5 miles away is the historic town of Shaftesbury, which boasts the famous Gold Hill with its chocolate-box cottages. The town offers a good selection of shops and eateries, perfect for a relaxed stop after a day of exploring. Visitors interested in the area’s Saxon heritage will enjoy exploring the town museum and the atmospheric abbey ruins. You’ll find a village shop and pub in nearby Semley (2 miles), as well as an antiques centre. The village of Motcombe is 2.5 miles away and is another good stop for a pint of milk or a visit to the pub. Within 25 miles, you’ll also find a wealth of popular attractions, including Stonehenge, Longleat House and Safari Park, Stourhead House and Gardens, Haynes Motor Museum, and the cathedral cities of Salisbury and Bath.

This converted former barn forms part of a historic farm, having been sympathetically reinvented into stylish dwellings. A shared drive leads to the barn, which has an area of hardstanding to the front and a private entrance door leading into a welcoming hallway. Once inside, you’ll find space to hang coats and leave muddy boots, to the left in the heart of the property a stylish kitchen/diner, with a large dining table and a view of the beautifully landscaped garden and one aspect of the dual-sided wood burner. The U-shaped and newly fitted kitchen has all you need to create delicious meals. Leading on from this room is the lounge, which has a striking vaulted ceiling that really showcases the heritage of the building, as well as a view of the wood burner, Smart TV, and doors to the garden. At the other end of the ground floor is the first of three individually beautiful designed bedrooms, with twin beds that can be made into a super-king on request and en-suite shower room with WC. Completing the ground floor is a separate WC, useful utility room with a washer/dryer. Heading up the oak staircase to the first floor, you’ll pass a spacious desk space, great for attending to the odd email, before coming to the two bedrooms set into the eaves of the building. First is a super-king-size which can be made up into twins on request, with an en-suite bathroom. The second bedroom has a super-king size bed and an en-suite shower room. These rooms have original roof timbers and sloping ceilings in some areas, adding to the character and charm of the property. All the bedrooms have a Smart TV, and the beds are dressed in White Company linens.

Heading outside via the lounge, you can enjoy the professionally landscaped gardens, featuring borders filled with flowering plants and a patio with furniture, ideal for a sundowner or your morning coffee. There is ample parking in front of the property along with EV charging.

Higher Berrybrook was probably the best property we have stayed in. Everything was first class. All the fittings and equipment were high quality and the accomodation was spacious and practical. The location deep in the Dorset countryside is pretty special too. And access to an ev point is a great addition. .

The property has a wonderful patio and garden, just right for relaxing after a day out or just for a day in. Quiet and peaceful rural location but only about 8 - 10 mins outside Shaftesbury. Higher Berrybrook is a stunning converted barn in a peaceful, picturesque setting. My 87 year old father has mobility issues so it was lovely for the three of us to be able to sit outside in the beautifully landscaped gardens and listen to the birdsong while watching buzzards and red kites fly overhead. There are many villages surrounding the areRead morea with pubs and cafes, and nearby Shaftesbury has everything you need. We also visited Longleat while there and even drove down to Poole Harbour which is very easy to get to. We enjoyed a lovely, relaxing week away together. Hide

Higher Berrybrook is situated in the beautiful Dorset countryside a few miles from the market town of Shaftesbury. The property is a former barn which has been thoughtfully and carefully converted into a dwelling without losing the charm of the original building. The conversion has been carried out using very good quality materials and fixtures Read moreas well as craftsmanship. Likewise the furnishings are of a very good quality and most comfortable. There are a number of attractions in the area and the Swanage Railway together with Corfe Castle is well worth a visit. If you enjoy going to a traditional English pub then The Bennett Arms, a short distance away, is well worth visiting. All in all it would be difficult to fault Higher Berrybrook. No hesitation in recommending this property. Hide
