A truly unique retreat awaits on this modern and stylish houseboat situated on a large estate, on the edge of Gilling West – a pretty village on the cusp of the Yorkshire Dales. This is an ideal base camp, whether you're looking to strike out on long walks or simply relax and enjoy the surroundings. There's a great dining pub less than 1 mile away. If you are a foodie, head to one of the local farm shops. The historic market town of Richmond is less than 3 miles away: explore the cobbled market square or stroll up towards Richmond Castle for a slice of Yorkshire history. Head north to Barnard Castle (12.5 miles), where you’ll find streets lined with independent shops, cafes, and art galleries. Bowes Museum is also well worth a visit.

This property really is one of a kind, located in a beautiful rural setting. As you approach your accommodation, your path will be lit by fairy lights, and you will immediately see that the property is floating gently beside its own jetty on a private lake, with a decked veranda at either end. Inside, you’ll discover a beautifully chic, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with sleek kitchen cupboards and everything you’ll need to whip up a meal on a cosy night in. There’s a dining table for two to enjoy a romantic meal, as well as a comfortable sofa to curl up on in the evening and watch the wildlife through the large sliding doors, or enjoy a film on the Smart TV. The whole room exudes luxury with its artwork, unique furniture, soft furnishings, and wooden floors throughout. From the open-plan living space, you can make your way through to the tasteful and inviting king-size bedroom, which is separated from the main living space by a sliding door. Again, this room is beautifully presented with a gorgeous, four-poster bed adorned with fairy lights and more sumptuous soft furnishings. Completing the inside of the property is a shower room with WC.

Outside is also a great space to unwind, with decked verandas at either end of the property, with feature log burning hot tub and a bistro set. Here, you can while away hours in the tranquil surroundings, watching the wildlife and enjoying the gentle lap of the water.

Beautiful location, fantastic quirky houseboat, modern, well kitted out. Ideal couples retreat. Bottle of bubbly left for arrival. A must for nature lovers, lake, surroundings and wildlife just gorgeous. Even supplied swan and duck food and the family of swans made our holiday. Already looking at dates to return. Perfect happy place.

The most lovely location if you like water, a stroll, wildlife and peace and quiet. Can't beat actually floating on the water and just sitting out watching the swans, geese, ducks. It is a bit tight for space in the bedroom and bathroom but the location makes it worthwhile. Lovely places to visit nearby, but be aware the only thing in the village iRead mores the pub, no local shop. All the staff are great especially Sam and Oliver. Definitely recommend it and will be back. Hide

Great few days away. Waking up to the ducks and swans was lovely. Boat house is small and compact but it had everything we needed for the few days we were there. It was very clean. the location was great. Very peaceful. The prosecco and biscuits were a nice surprise on arrival. Made use of the hot tub which does take about 3 hours to warm up.
