Step inside this charming, character-filled cottage, where you can unwind after adventures in the Yorkshire Dales. The immediate area offers a great starting point for many walks and cycle routes, including the Pennine Way. Go 3 miles to Hardraw Force, England's highest unbroken waterfall, but be prepared for a little splash! For more waterfalls and woodland hikes, head 10 miles to Aysgarth Falls. Take in the sweeping valleys and rugged fells from the summit of Buttertubs Pass. Stretch your legs with a short climb, or simply enjoy a scenic drive over the pass into Swaledale, where artsy shops and walking trails await. When it's time to slow down, visit the pretty village of Hawes (0.5 miles) for a morning coffee at a cosy cafe, a wholesome pub lunch, or a trip to the Wensleydale Creamery for a few savoury treats.

Pause for a moment before stepping inside this storybook cottage and take in its charming facade, with traditional stone walls, classic mullion windows, and a backdrop of lush greenery. The open-plan interior is just as characterful as the exterior, where a wood burner, pillowy sofa and overhead beams present a cosy escape. The kitchen sits just behind, and is in a farmhouse-style design with ample appliances for rustling up Yorkshire-inspired dishes. Gather around the four-person dining table to tuck in and discuss the plans for tomorrow's adventures. At bedtime, head upstairs to discover two homely bedrooms: a king-size and a double. Both bedrooms are decorated with pretty wallpaper, crisp linens and rustic wood accents. There is a bathroom on this floor with a bath, shower and WC.

The views from your secluded patio at the front of the property are exceptional, with rolling hillsides at every turn. Dine alfresco at the table and chairs or simply sip your morning coffee with a book. This holiday home has private parking for two cars.

A beautiful old cottage in a great location, comfortable and full of character. A bit drafty but quick to warm up. Bring slippers for the flagstone floors. You need to supply your own dishwasher tablets and laundry soap. Not much firewood given.

We were excited to stay in this house but unfortunately, for the price we paid it did not meet our expectations. The house was dirty and the furnishings are very tired. I do not mind rustic, but this was far below that, and we will not book it again. However, this house is in a great location and if it was to undergo a deep clean and updating it woRead moreuld be a lovely place to stay. Hide
