Sudbourne is a picturesque village located in the Suffolk Coast and Heaths National Landscape. Nestled amidst rolling countryside and coastal allure, it’s an ideal destination for nature lovers and those seeking a tranquil retreat. Orford, a charming village just 2 miles away, is renowned for its historic castle, which dates to the 12th century, keen sailors and for seafood enthusiasts, with its oyster fishery and smokehouse. Its location along the River Ore and proximity to Orford Ness Nature Reserve make it an attractive spot for twitchers and walkers. Woodbridge (12 miles) is a delightful market town known for its scenic riverside setting along the River Deben. The town's historic streets are lined with independent shops, restaurants, and cafes, offering a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere. Woodbridge is also a gateway to the nearby Sutton Hoo archaeological site, which holds treasures from the Anglo-Saxon era, adding a touch of history to its charm.

Tucked away on the outskirts of the village, this wooden-clad holiday home is the rural retreat you have been looking for. Set over two floors and offering a reverse-living layout, it features wonderful views across the fields and over the River Alde. The ground floor hosts the two bedrooms; one king-size and one twin, with use of a shared family bathroom. There is also a lovely reading room with a plush sofa, a desk for remote working and a small library of books to revel in. Heading upstairs, you’ll find an open-plan space featuring the lounge/kitchen/diner. The kitchen is fully fitted with integrated appliances and an island for preparing delicious meals, as well as a dining area with seating for all. At the other end of the space is the living area, which has two sofas, a Smart TV and a wood burner to keep you warm during the chillier months.

The garden features a small patio with a dining table and chairs. Pockets of wildflowers grow alongside the longer patches of grass, whilst a mown path meanders along the fence edge to views across the fields.

Well Barn is in a lovely, quiet location with great views towards Orford Ness and across fields regularly frequented by hares. Its an easy walk down country lanes or across fields to Orford, and though the property itself could do with a few extra touches (some salt in the dishwasher, and instructions for the TV!), we really enjoyed our stay. The uRead morepside-down design works really well, and the shower is excellent. Note, the water is really hard, so buy bottled if you dont want scummy tea. Hide

We recently spent a lovely relaxing few days at Well Barn, the barn is in a lovely peaceful setting with fabulous dog walks right on the doorstep, you can walk right into woods and forests all on public footpaths. We were very lucky that no one was staying in the other property so it felt very private. The garden is not secure but that didnt causRead moree us any problems as our dog does not wander off. The views are spectacular from the upper living area and we saw plenty of wildlife. The barn is homely and comfortable and the kitchen is fairly well equipped. There is no big supermarket or shops locally so taking supplies is essential for your 1st day and we found that many local pubs only open at weekends. This is a perfect get away for peace and quiet and dog walkers the local area is beautiful and there is plenty to do and see. Hide

Beautiful part of Suffolk amazing views from the upstairs windows. If you enjoy peace, wildlife and walking this is a wonderful area to explore. There were a few issues with some of the kitchen equipment but overall we were very comfortable and had a great week.
