A comfortable base for an active holiday enjoying the great outdoors, this traditional stone cottage is set on a working farm in the Dulais Valley, just outside the village of Crynant. It’s ideal for families or friends and offers walks from your door into the mountains as well as the opportunity to get active and try some new experiences. Within 3 miles, it’s possible to play golf, go quad biking or paint balling, or have a go at archery. Venture to the fascinating Cefn Coed Colliery Museum (1 mile), the impressive Aberdulais waterfalls (3 miles) and the awe-inspiring Dan-yr-Ogof caves (11 miles). For a change of scene, Swansea is just 14.5 miles away, where you’ll find museums, a water park, a tropical zoo and an excellent indoor market, not to mention shops and places to eat galore. The golden sands of Langland Bay are just under 20 miles away.

This detached, two-storey property offers a charming, Welsh-farmhouse welcome and has impressive features, including exposed-stone walls, rugged beams and oak floors. When you’ve hung your coats in the hallway, head straight into the gorgeous kitchen/diner, which has a traditional range cooker at its heart and a sofa for relaxing. Here, you’ll have everything needed to prepare tasty holiday fare, from Welsh breakfasts to celebratory dinners. On the other side of the entrance, you’ll find the cosy lounge, where there’s a choice of comfortable seating and a Smart TV for streaming your favourite shows. In the summer, throw open the French doors that lead to the front patio or, in the cooler months, light the wood burner for a warming glow. Completing the ground floor is a convenient wet room with a WC. Take the stairs to find three delightful bedrooms on the first floor, tucked into the eaves, all with dressing tables. The double room has an en-suite shower room, while the twin and single room both have TVs and share a family bathroom with a spa bath. The twin room also has a door that leads to stone steps down to the front garden.

To one side of the house is a semi-enclosed patio with artificial grass and dining furniture, an ideal spot for sipping a sundowner or grilling something tasty on the BBQ. Another impressive feature of this superb property is its spa centre (shared with the other holiday cottage on site), which includes a hot tub where you can laze in the bubbles as you appreciate the splendid views of March Hywel Mountain. There’s also a heated, indoor swimming pool, a sauna and a selection of fitness equipment. Guests will be provided with alternative morning (9am - 1pm) and afternoon (1pm - 5pm) sessions to the sister property for private use with subject to availability for maintenance. Little ones can burn off excess energy at the outdoor play area. Private parking is available for two cars.

What an amazing week we had at The Old Stable. The cottage was spotless and had everything we could want. It was so comfortable too. The large settee was perfect for relaxing at night watching TV, the spacious kitchen was very well equipped and is a pleasure to cook in. The setting of the cottage is idyllic with fields as far as you can see and so Read moremuch to see and do right on the doorstep. The pool house with the hot tub, swimming pool and sauna are amazing and really add to this already perfect property. We enjoyed feeding the animals and watching the horses. The owners are friendly and very helpful and on hand for any questions etc. We will definitely be returning. Hide
