This characterful cottage is one of five properties at Knightsgate, a tranquil enclave within the conservation area of Little Walsingham. This quaint historic village is known for the Anglican Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham and the Catholic National Shrine and Basilica of Our Lady. It is the home of the Wells and Walsingham Light Railway and has its own museum, part of which is housed in the former village courthouse dating back to the reign of George III. The charming medieval streets feature half-timbered buildings accommodating a range of interesting shops, cafes and an award winning wine bar and including the beloved Walsingham Farms Shop. A short drive from the stunning North Norfolk Coast, Well-next-the-Sea and Holkham are just 6 and 7 miles away respectively. The market towns of Holt (11 miles) and Fakenham (5.5 miles) are also within easy reach, as are some of the area's stunning nature reserves, including Blakeney Point (8 miles) and Cley-next-the-Sea (9.5 miles).

On entering this lovely cottage, you will find yourself in the bright and welcoming hall. To the right is the spacious and comfortable lounge. With a Smart TV, plenty of comfy seating and a wood burner-effect electric fire, this is the perfect space in which to relax at the end of a busy day. To the other side of the hall is the bright and spacious kitchen/diner, fully equipped for memorable holiday meals. There is also a handy downstairs WC and drying room. At the top of the stairs is a bright landing area, leading to two restful and welcoming double bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower room and the other boasting an en-suite bathroom.

Outside, you’ll find a beautiful shared garden, along the bottom of which runs the River Stiffkey. Directly outside the cottage, there is a large patio area with comfortable seating for dining alfresco. There is dedicated cart shed parking for one car.

It looked overall that it had had a spruce up, following comments from other people and we could not fault the comfort. It was just the two items above that need to be sorted out.

Comfortable and clean cottage, was ideal for visiting Walsingham shrine church as it was almost opposite it. Also not far to get to beaches and nature reserves. The cottage is in a quiet and peaceful location. I felt very much at home there, and would return again.

We had a lovely stay at St Bernard's. Great location for walking the Norfolk coast and had everything we needed for a short stay. Has no WiFi and no smart tv but great if you're wanting a bit of an escape from technology! Only the top oven worked which was fine for cooking for two but larger groups/families may struggle.

A lovely location and generally very quiet especially since none of the other cottages were occupied. Well equipped kitchen with plenty of crockery and silverware. The en-suite shower can be a little awkward. Overall a comfortable property that we would use again.

As a whole the cottage was comfortable and it's location great for accessing the village. A disadvantage if staying more than a few days is the lack of internet access.

Lovely location but the cottage is tired and in need of a deep clean and/or refurbishment. Oven door doesn't shut which is a potential fire risk. Great deli in the village and not far from the coast but you will find nicer properties for a similar cost if you book well in advance. A shame as it could be so much nicer with a little tlc.
