Property code: OC-CCMEAD

Chapel Mead is a stunning and spacious property with breathtaking views of the Fowey River and the sea and with its own steps down to the beach known as ‘Boy’s Cove’ accessed directly from the bottom of the garden. Peaceful and secluded yet within easy reach of the village, offering spectacular views from almost every room.

Built on a hillside, Polruan's steep narrow lanes tumble down to the harbour and are quiet, unspoilt and virtually car free. Just a ferry ride away is the sailing town of Fowey famous for its yearly Regatta. This is Daphne du Maurier country and the acclaimed Fowey festival attracts many to its talks, walks, plays and poetry. Surrounded by miles of beautiful coast and countryside opportunities for walking abound. There is a scenic 1.5 mile coastal walk to sandy Lantic Bay, and the popular Hall Walk will take you from Polruan to Fowey via Bodinnick and two ferries. Nearby beaches include Readymoney Cove, Lantic Bay and Polkerris and both the famous Eden Project and the 'Lost Gardens of Heligan' are within easy driving distance.

All of Chapel Mead's main rooms have been carefully designed to maximise the enjoyment of this special location. The house has both a large drawing room with French doors giving views out to sea and a spacious sitting room with comfortable seating and a large wood-burning stove. Both rooms have wide concertina doors which lead on to the veranda and expansive gardens with uninterrupted views out to sea.  An ample kitchen is well equipped and has an extending oak table and lovely views over the mouth of the river. A generous pantry leads off the kitchen. There is also a bedroom and shower room on this level. Upstairs there are four bedrooms (all with views), two bathrooms and a shower room.

Outside the veranda provides a wide covered area and benefits from a south westerly aspect from which to admire the view and the late afternoon sun, making it ideal for drinks and al-fresco dining. The garden is mainly laid to lawn with a variety of sitting areas and both wooden and stone benches overlooking the sea. A number of steps lead up from the garden to the ample parking area.

Chapel Mead can be rented out with Gartree Cottage next door for a larger group (sleeping 14 in total).

Really lovely house with a great location. There are steep steps down but they are manageable. The access to the beach was great. Would recommend parking up and walking down on arrival as the access is narrow and steep so best to check it out before you drive down. Overall a lively place to spend a family holiday.

This property had everything we needed for 4 couples. Well equipped, spacious, character. There is a view from every room, either sea view or estuary view and the garden is a beautiful place to sit and relax watching the boats sailing in and out. The house had plenty of space in the large farmhouse style kitchen and 2 large lounges for us to spreaRead mored out. Polruan is not suitable (in my opinion) for those not coping with hills/steps and the roads are very narrow driving in and around. We used the bus service and ferries to get about once we had arrived and walking. A thoroughly enjoyable week in a lovely property. Highly recommend. Hide

Lovely weekend in Chapel Mead with five friends. Very comfortable and well equipped. Directions were excellent. Fabulous views across the estuary. Great for watching the rough seas. Would stay again. Thank you for the wine.

The house was ideal for us. We were a party of 9, 5 adult, 3 children and an infant. The equipment and space in the house was everything we needed. The views were amazing, and access to the village very good.
