A stunning cottage designed, built and decorated to the highest possible spec. Upon our arrival, we were met with a stunning vase of what seemed to be locally hand picked and arranged flowers and foliage. But the real treat was the freshly home baked chocolate brownies. I am told by my family that these were utterly delicious, but as I, myself, amRead more gluten-free, I sadly could not sample these -- a wonderful gesture, nevertheless. Similarly, there was a hamper of goodies and essentials such as bread, Prossecco, fresh apple juice, eggs, crisps, teabags, coffee bags and so on. There was even a carton of fresh milk in the fridge. Such a lovely gesture which saves one from having to go out and buy essentials upon arrival. But the real treat was the aesthetics of the property -- the interior design was stunning! The building materials were of the highest spec, with chunky stone sills and floors, solid oak beams and revealed oak trusses, a galleried bedroom overlooking the lounge (but fully glazed to prevent noise disturbance for anyone sleeping in this bedroom. (The kids slept there and the heavy blackout curtains made sure they got a good night's sleep). The bathrooms were utterly stunning, with copper sinks and power showers and so on. The upstairs main bedroom also had a modern free-standing bath tub in it -- beautiful! The kitchen had every modern appliance; all the drawers were kitted with everything you could think of, including a hand whisk should one wish to bake. The laundry room had a washer and dryer, as well as iron and ironing board, and vacuum. Each bedroom had a hair dryer, multiple towels, two bath robes and night time eye masks. The original building had apparently been outbuildings to a farm, and one of the loveliest preserved features was the slit windows, preserved for aesthetic purposes rather than for practical purposes, these were a real feature. Some were highlighted with LED lights, and they all added that extra charm to the property. The cottage had two (front and back) private patios, so you have sun throughout the whole day. Similarly, there were two sets of patio doors, so plenty of light and air. The back patio comprised of a hot tub, outdoor dining chairs and table, comfi outdoor sofa, and a gas barbecue. We made full use of all of these -- the kids especially loved the jaccuzzi hot tub. The overall views were of lovely green fields, some with sheep and some were mowed grass where the kids were able to run around with a ball. We met a couple of members of the family who created these cottages and they were such lovely, friendly people. We thoroughly enjoyed our week at the cottage and would definitely stay there again. Thank you! Hide
