Set on a farm on the edge of the pretty seaside town of Clevedon, the stone-built barn is ideally placed for exploring the scenic North Somerset coast and countryside. The new 13-mile Pier to Pier route for walkers and cyclists runs between Weston-super Mare and Clevedon, while the town’s Golf Centre, where both adults and children are welcome, is within easy reach. Take a stroll along the seafront promenade, with glorious views across to Wales and brave an exhilarating dip in Marine Lake, a huge seawater pool where you can enjoy safe swimming and water sports. The National Trust’s Clevedon Court (2.5 miles) is a fine medieval manor house set in lush, terraced gardens, and Tyntesfield (7.5 miles), an ornate Victorian Gothic Revival masterpiece set in extensive grounds, is well worth a visit.

Set under the eaves and boasting skylights, this spot is ideal for stargazing as you fall asleep.
